☾
5 years later.
The chilly air caused the hair on my arms to rise up, and allowed goosebumps to settle in on my arms and legs. I rubbed my arms up and down trying to warm them up, but failing none the less.
My harsh breathing and the snaps of twigs and sticks I stepped on were the only sounds for miles. I felt my legs start to get tired from all the walking, and my arms started aching from rubbing them.
I looked up into the night sky, mesmerized by the billions of twinkling stars looking down upon me. But, what really caught my attention was the moon.
She was so bright and full of life, as if she was creating her own light source, not reflecting off the sun. She sparked to life during the night, and remained hidden during the day, but was always there.
I whipped my head around, hearing a sound in the distance. I listened very closely, expecting to hear another sound. But was greeted with silence instead.
I turned back around and continued my way, wasting no time. I sniffed the air making sure I wasn't being followed, but caught a whiff of something that sent me instantly over drive. I stopped dead on my tracks, and inhaled the scent, unlike any I've ever smelt before.
I stood there in a trance, while my wolf was whining, whining with excitement. I finally came back to my senses when the scent disappeared and a branch snapped behind me.
Caution suddenly consumed me and I instantly turned around, letting a low growl escape my lips, telling whoever was there to back off. I couldn't throw it all away now, I was almost there. I stood in defense mode, waiting. Waiting for any sign to attack or run.
A large brown wolf pounced at me from behind a tree, knocking me to the ground. I started struggling underneath of the wolf's weight, but managed to roll over on top of the wolf. I threw a few punches in its gut and throat, but got pushed off after a few seconds. My wolf was trying to release itself, but I couldn't risk that. Not after all I've been through and as far as I've come.
The wolf lowly growled at me, showing me its canines while slowly walking up to me. A pain jolted up my left arm and I let out a small scream.
My arm was covered in blood and had a deep gash, were the wolf must of bit me. I slid back as far as I could but didn't make it far due to my newly injured arm.
The wolf jumped on me so fast, I felt the air escape my lungs. I started frantically gasping for air but stopped when its teeth grazed my delicate flesh on my throat.
I closed my eyes waiting for the end. But it never came. I slowly opened my eyes, and found myself staring into the most intense blue eyes I've ever seen. It made my stomach twist and my throat dry out.
The eyes just stared back, seeming to be in the same trance as me. My wolf was trying to tell me something, but I was so lost in the eyes, that I wasn't paying any attention.
"Mate" a low husky whisper said making chills run down my spine.
He put his head in the crook of my neck, sending warm tingly feelings through my whole body.
My eyes instantly closed, and my breathing hitched.
I couldn't help but enjoy this. The way he made me feel warm and safe. The way he made my heart beat rapidly and how just one touch made me-
No! What am I saying? I have avoided finding my mate ever since that night, and I am going to stick to the original plan.
I opened my eyes and tried shoving my mate away, but he didn't budge. I tried shoving him again, but stopped when my arm started throbbing with pain.
I let out a small whimper that instantly made him move away as he grabbed my injured arm roughly.
I let out a cry of pain as he inspected it for a moment.
"I'm going to kill that bastard." He growled out while standing up.
He bent down and scooped me up in his arms then started walking in the opposite direction I was going.
I took this as the time to look at all his features. His hair dark brown hair was messy, but looked perfect anyways. I longed to reach up and brush my fingers through it, but I resisted the urge. His facial features were again, perfect. He had a strong, defined jaw line and the most beautiful blue eyes I had ever seen. His shoulders were broad, and he had a very sculpted chest that made me want to run my hands down.
I was snapped out of my trance when I unintentionally went to grab my locket, but it wasn't there. I had never taken it off and it was gone now.
Panicking, I started pushing on his chest in attempt to get down.
"Let me down!" I yelled.
He looked down at me but kept walking anyways, ignoring my order.
The locket was the only thing I had left. I was nothing without it. I had it on before I got attacked, so it has to be somewhere over in that spot.
I started kicking my legs like crazy, trying to wriggle my way down. He just pulled me closer to him and let out a small growl.
"Stop!" He yelled at me.
"Put me down now." I ordered in low voice that made him freeze on the spot. He looked down at me surprised and studied me for a minute. Just when I thought he was going to put me down, he continued walking.
"Asshole." I muttered under my breath.
"What did you just say to me?" He said with his teeth gritted.
"I said asshole." I repeated, this time much louder.
"Listen, I don't need a mate and I would be happy to kill you right now!" He roared out, digging his fingers farther into my skin with every word he said.
"Then why don't you?" I challenged him. I have nothing left to live for anyways.
"Because I need a Luna for my pack." He said glaring at me with a cold expression.
So he's an alpha.
"Who says I won't reject you right now?" I said, getting on his nerves on purpose.
His eyes turned black and he pushed me up against the nearest tree trunk.
"Because if you do, I won't give you the pleasure of death." He laughed coldly against my neck. "No, I will torture you until you are at the brink of death, let you recover and then do it all over again. I will make you truly wish you were dead."
I looked up at him with a glare that could scare off anyone, yet he just stayed in the same position glaring at me.
Looks like I'm stuck with him... For now.
