My drive back home was full of worry. Now that I knew who Dylan was, I had a face to the name, and it was a beautiful face, I had to agree with Clara. I didn't know a single thing about Dylan, all I knew was that he was in my AP Government class and that was it. When I got home all I wanted to do was take a nap and not even think about doing my homework, sadly that was something that I could not afford to do. I buckled down and finished my English questions and made myself a quick snack before getting ready for practice. The club I played for was Flight Volleyball Club, it was a solid hour drive from my house so I had to start getting ready at about six.
When I pulled into the parking lot of our practice facility it all hit me at once, this would be my last season of club volleyball. I never thought that playing a sport would influence me as much as it did. I made so many amazing friends and traveled to so many interesting places because of the sport and I am beyond grateful.
"I saw you bump into the new kid today." Ali snickered as we warmed up together on the court. Ali and I had only been friends for about a year. She transferred to my school second semester of Junior year but we had seen each other at tournaments before.
"Oh Dylan?" I questioned as if I didn't know who that was, "Yeah he seems nice I guess."
"Are you gonna go for it?" Ali eagerly asked.
"No I don't want a boyfriend right now. He's cute don't get me wrong, but I think I want to focus on myself this semester."
Ali rolled her eyes, "Okayyyy"
It felt so good getting back into a more intense club season. All the seniors who were on this team had a collective goal of doing well and committing to a good college. After a two hour practice I began the hour drive back home. However, there was less traffic at 10 at night.
"Mom? Are you still up?" I whispered when I unlocked the door and was greeted by our husky Sully
"No, she's already asleep." My 15 year old brother Thomas looked up from his laptop on the kitchen counter, "Mom made a plate for you and Dad in the fridge."
I gave Thomas a weird look, "Dad STILL isn't home." My Dad was a trainer for the Los Angeles Lakers. He traveled with them to their away games, but they didn't have a game today as far as I knew. I took my plate of chicken, green beans, and mac and cheese, out of the fridge, put it in the microwave and sat down next to my brother, "What class is this for?"
Thomas gave me a disgusted look, "AP European History." Thomas was very tall much like me, he had darker complexion than I did, he played basketball for our high school, and he was very smart.
"Those were the days." I smiled and got my food out of the microwave and looked at the clock, "Crap." It was already 11:30 and I still had to read for my AP Bio class. I quickly ate my food and put my plate in the dish washer, "Night Thomas."
"Night Ava." He mumbled not looking up from the computer.
The next morning I woke up to my alarm at 6:45 and looked out of my window to see my Dad's car. Thank goodness . I thought. I took a quick shower and changed into a blue button up shirt leaving it open and a white tank top under, with my leggings and flip flops.
"Well, well, well, look who's home." I greeted my Dad when I got downstairs and joined him at the table for breakfast.
"I had a very late night." My Dad sighed and stared blankly at his computer. My Dad grew up in Los Angeles. His childhood was pretty okay. He was half white and half African American making me 1/4 African American. He went to USC on a football scholarship and majored in physical therapy.
I got to school to find someone was parked in Eric's usual spot, "I saw your friend parked here yesterday so I figured I might just take it today so we could have a chance to talk more." I heard a voice as I got out of the car. It was Dylan.
"Dylan! Hey, this is my younger brother Thomas." I smiled and introduced my younger brother to Dylan.
"Nice to meet you. I'm gonna get going." Thomas grinned and walked to his class.
"He is very tall. And could probably kick my ass." Dylan gulped.
I laughed, "Thomas means well. But yes, he probably could kick your ass."
"Anyways, I'm just gonna kinda put myself out there and say this, I know that I just met you yesterday and this is probably gonna sound very strange coming from some weird lanky guy with no game at all, but I think you are very beautiful and before I ask you on a date I want us to be friends first." Dylan took a deep breath, "So friends until Saturday night when I take you out to dinner?'
I was very flattered by Dylan's proposal and his deep gorgeous brown eyes looked into mine and it was something I could not resist, however I had to think about myself because this year was all about working on me, "I have another proposal, lets stay friends for about a month, and at the end of that month we will see what happens."
"Understandable. Okay, sounds like a deal." Dylan smiled and walked towards his building for his first class.
"As a fellow man I feel obligated to tell Dylan that you are not looking for a boyfriend and he is just wasting his time." Eric told me at nutrition.
"Well don't. Who knows, things might change." I scolded.
Truth be told Dylan and I would be very cute together, and I am very stubborn so when I get the idea into my head that I will not be having any boys in my life, I usually like to stick to it. But I could just have this feeling in my stomach that this was not going to be the case.

This is also going to sound very creepy, but Natalie gave me your number. I hope you don't mind, maybe we can meet for lunch today and talk?New Message to: Unknown
This is probably Dylan, if thats the case then yes, I would love that. If not, then no pls. After I sent that, Dylan sent me a selfie of him making the ugliest face, but still managing to look so hot. Yeah, this was most likely not going to be the case with Dylan.
