Terra's POV
I screamed in pain as the rush of dark energy pulsed through my veins. I was sprawled out on the harsh wooden floor in the apartment that I shared with my best friend Seth. I closed my eyes, panting, praying for this awful ordeal to be over. My body contorted in agony and I punched the floor, letting my anger and frustration out. The musty brown floorboard cracked into long and spindly pieces, each crack glowed a dark shade of blood red. Pure dark power. My shoulders shook as I withdrew my hand, another surge of power shook through me and I gasped for breath. Seth was rubbing my back, whispering encouragements. Through all the pain I'm glad he was there, I couldn't do it on my own.
"C'mon Terra, we've been waiting for this day. Don't let it get to you, best at strong, focus. The power is nearly all gone, you can do it - just hold on." That's all I had to do, just hold on until the power left me, until the curse was gone.
Five minutes later I found myself coughing up blood, my body having spasms. I shut my eyes, too weak to even scream. Inside I was burning, it felt like toxic was tearing my insides apart. My thoughts were blurry and I didn't pay attention as to what was going on around me - I was focusing on holding on. Suddenly, after another wave of exhausting pain, my eyelids were forced open and all I could see was red. All of a sudden my vision eared and I felt a strange sensation in my eyes but I knew instantly what was happening - they were going back to normal. That was the last step - my eyes.
I sat up and inspected my hands, they were dainty but not too thin. I looked up at Seth, who was staring at me in amazement, and smiled. I'd done it, I was victorious. The world was safe - from me. I peered into Seth's watery grey eyes, they screamed achievement.
He opened his mouth to speak.
"I-it's done." He said in disbelief. "It used to take my Mum hours, sometimes days to get rid of that damn curse." I nodded understandingly.
"It's probably because some dumbass turned me into a vampire YEARS ago, I guess it sped up the healing process..." I replied, playing with my thumbs. Had it really worked? Was I really okay?
I was cursed, born cursed, with the burden of a lifetime, the burden of the Hood. When the carrier of the curse comes of age, it activates, turning the carrier into a demonic, murdering psychopath. I was turned into a vampire on my eighteenth birthday, making me stronger and deadlier than any creature in history. I was a wreck, a newborn vampire with power way greater than what I could handle. I was foolish back then, killing whoever came into my sight sloppily. Then I met Seth and everything changed...
I stood up and shakes out the cramps from lying on the bloody floor, I looked around, we was in the living room of our apartment and it was a total wreck. The curtains were ripped and what was left of the furniture was in tiny little pieces and the floor was stained with red, permanently scarred with power.
"Seth," I started, he looked up from his perch in the far corner of the room.
"I think it's time for a little change of scenery."
"Sure, this place sucks. Got anywhere in mind?" He asked amused, used to my outrageous ways. I smirked, my mind filling with memories.
"Yeah, I've got just the place."
It took us three days to run down to Virginia, I was amazingly quick. It was clear that the curse had made me stronger. We stopped regularly for blood, Seth killed, just to be on the safe side. The first few days were crucial, one kill was enough to send me back over the edge.
Most of the journey was spent in silence, the both of us enjoying the soothing salvation that was running to you full speed. Feeling the wind throw your hair back and attack your face. We reached out destination at midnight on the third day. We stopped at the sign and looked down at the sleeping town that stretched out beneath us. I smiled,
Mystic Falls, it's good to be home.
