As Professor Jeekz eyes roamed over him, Albus struggled to look interested by scrawling a few lines in his notebook. Remember to ask Catherine for Jerkz notes...and homework. Without his brainiac girlfriend, Albus would have landed in remediation classes weeks ago and he was close enough as it was. He couldn't help it that his brain went haywire when thinking about her, and he couldn't stop lately. It preoccupied his mind thinking about them, together. Her full lips colliding against his, her hands running through his hair, it's color so very close to his own. It was 3 weeks ago that he first spotted Ash and James pressed together outside the dining hall. He almost hadn't noticed them as he was rushing to the dorms to take a quick shower before his date with Catherine but the small flicker in the shadows of the grand doors caught his seekers eye and it didn't take long to recognize the bright silver hair and the lean figure of his brother.  Ash and James. With the title of "best friend forever," Albus had seen Ash through countless relationships and flings. Each one bringing them closer as she had her heart broken time and time again. The were the infamous "Double A," the two so close that people were sure they had to be more than just friends. That wasn't the only rumor circulated, however. After all, not everyone wanted to believe that the two best looking fifth years were off the scene. Another wild theory: the reason Albus never took a girlfriend was because he was too busy pining for his closest friend who had enough relationships for at least 2 people. The main reason he began dating Catherine was to shut that one up.

Catherine was a Ravenclaw, the same age as Albus, discovered by him when he was trying to find a spell to cure pimples in the library. This was before puberty took effect and his thin bony figure turned into a long one roped with muscle. At the time he was a straight A student, with three friends, and a haunting feeling of inadequecy following him around. The only thing people knew him by was his last name and his brother, James, who was rumored to have had an offer to play for Pudlemore United at the ripe age of 15.

Class ended with the bang of Albus flying out the door and the cry of "don't forget your essay on Thursday!" from Professor Jeeks. Albus didn't know where he was going but he knew he had to get out of that class after he spotted the Ravenclaw quidditch team flying outside the window. The sight of Catherine on her broom was just too much. He felt like he was going to vomit. It was she who had taught him to fly in the dead of night for a month during their third year. Her devotion never wavered, she never lost trust in him, and yet, she wasn't the one he wanted.
