"LIVING ON THE HIGHWAY" We all yell in union with the song.
"TURN IT DOWN" Mum screams from the passenger seat in our black SUV.
"WHY?" Dad says over the music "GOTTA GET INTO THE GROOVE"
"WE ARE GONNA CRAS........" Mums words were cut of as dad turned it up.
"YEAHHHH" Me , Brad and Giselle cheer from the back.
Dad turns around to smile at us, letting go of the wheel to fist pump the air.
Everyone screams as we swerve to the other side of the road.
"AHHHHHH"
BAAAAAMMMMM!!!
All I saw was bright lights then. . . Darkness.
3 YEARS LATER . . .
"Good morning" Alex says in her high pitched voice.
"Go away" I reply angrily.
"Chelsea, it's time to get up. You never know if someone is looking for a 9 year old up for adoption" Alex says before hurrying back to her front desk.
"Urggg" I reply, pulling myself out of my messy bed.
I get dressed quietly and brush my teeth, clinging to the hope that someone WILL want a 9 year old girl.
Once I finish getting ready for the day I log on to my Instagram account hoping to distract myself.
After an hour of scrolling I still feel the same.
I log out of Instagram and put my small cracked second hand iPad away and stare at my plain white ceiling.
My eyes close, replaying the memory's of my family's car flipping after hitting a truck. I cannot get those pictures out of my head.
The blinding lights. . .
The redness of blood. . .
The flicker of my eye lids. . .
The darkness. . .
I roll over trying to remove those horrible memories from my mind.
