I wake up with wet cheeks and red eyes. I didn't sleep well last night having those images flash back into my mind.Getting up and washing my face, I feel slightly better.
I pull my curly brown hair back into a messy bun and apply my mascara, using the last of it.
Once I'm done, I decide to read a book. It's not the best book to read while still getting over the fact that you are alone but I continue anyway.
After a few chapters I get bored. There is nothing to do here."I hate this place" I mumble over the chatting of Alex and 2 unknown visitors.
Why can't I have been 4 . . . Or 5 . . . Or even 6. Nobody wants a ugly, 9 year old in their life. I'm just better of staying here: laying in the shadows of my tiny bedroom, wishing for positive. . . .
My words were cut off by Alex.
"There are some people to see you, honey. Shall I let them in?"
"Go for it" I say my cheery than I felt.
Then a beautiful, well dressed lady and her also well dressed husband walk in.
Great. . . Just great. They are probably here to tell me I'm far over my credit balance (again), or that I have won the world record for being the most unfortunate kid ever or maybe even to tell me that I spend way too much time on Instagram.
Their next words shock me more that any electric shock ball will.
"We would really love to adopt you, sweetie"
