I stopped in front of the large building, taking a deep breath. I walked up the short set of concrete steps, reaching the glass doors within seconds. Before pulling open the doors, i glance at myself in the reflection, squinting my eyes from the sun that had begun to set behind me, also having a rather bright reflection. I pulled at the metal handle, a gush of wind hit me, cold yet comforting since the temperatures outside were sky high into the 90's.
I walked up to a wooden desk, a lady that looked to be in her 30's sat in the chair, clicking around on the mouse, eyes focused on the computer screen. I stood in front waiting for her to notice the figure in front of her, i knew i was early coming here, having another two weeks before I had to settle in. I cleared my throat growing impatient also setting my heavy bags down on the floor.
"Excuse me?" I said, irritation obviously present in my voice.
She looked up from her computer for a moment before looking back down, clicking a few more times, then turning her attention back to me. She gave me a warm smile and stood up from her precious position.
"I'm sorry, my name is Elle, are you checking early?" she greeted and asked me. I gave her a small nod.
"My name is Scarlet Nova" I gave her my name, she took out a few papers and shuffles through them.
"Here are your papers, it is your class schedule, room number, event schedule, other needed papers to help you..." She trailed off handing me a pile of papers. I gave a grateful smile.
"Oh wait, Scarlet, here is your keys, one for your room, the pool, and your car" My eyes widened at the last part. I get a car too? I reached out grabbing the key out of her hand and headed toward the elevator, picking up and pulling up my bags with me.
Once i reach the elevator i check what floor my room is on. 17, the very top floor. I pushed the up button, waiting for the doors to slid open. Once they did i stepped in, clicking the button as the 17 lighted up a bright green color. At about the seventh floor, the number 13 lit up too, coming to a stop at that floor.
The doors slipped open, revealing a boy, probably a year older than me with hazel brown hair and bright blue eyes. He stepped in and reached over, pushing the star that took you to the main floor. The silence was a little awkward, having to stand with a stranger alone in an elevator.
I gave a sigh of relief when we came to a halt at the seventeenth floor. I glanced back at the boy once more when something caught me off guard, his eyes were hazel, like his hair, when before they were a piercing electric blue. I shuddered and hurried off the elevator, nearly getting caught in the closing doors.
I turned down the hallway, my eyes scanning the numbers on the door, looking for my room. I searched over and over again, each time coming up short with no room. I grunted and turned back down the hallway to the dreaded place i had come from. I clicked the small star button for the main floor, only waiting a minute before i was there.
I trailed myself back to the welcome desk, spotting the boy i had seen moments ago, chatting with Elle. They both turned to notice me standing there awkwardly, waiting for them to finish their conversation. The boy smirked and Elle smiled.
"Scarlet, what's the matter" Elle asked noticing the proud look of worry present on my face.
"I-I couldn't find my room" I stuttered out, growing self-conscious under the boy's stare. I handed over the room number and she searched through her computer, looking for any mistakes. She gave a heavy sigh.
"Your room doesn't exist, they messed up the number of rooms when the building was built, totally slipped my mind" she explained in a guilty tone. For a moment she looked dee poo in thought until her face lit up.
"You can stay with my son, Weston, he has the biggest room and doesn't share with anyone, and until we figure out if we will have any spare room, you won't have nowhere else to go" she offered. I gave her a confused look. were boys and girls aloud to stay in a dorm room together. Elle noticed my look and smirked a little.
"Don't worry, I'm sure my son will behave" she smiled, and eyed her son.
"Take her up to your room to get settled in" she rushed us off. i followed him silently, not knowing what to say. i knew he wasn't very happy about the position we were in, but it wasn't my fault. i looked over at him while we stood in the elevator, nearly gasping when i seen that his eyes were now a bright green.
He took me to his room showing me around for a moment.
"Okay well, y o u get settled in, Ill run to the stored grab some food and movies, we can get to know each other?" his offer came out into a question. I grinned.
"sure" i said quietly. He grabbed what looked to be a wallet, said he would be right back and took off out of the room. I put my clothes away and organized my side the way liked it and flopped down on the comfy mattress.
This year was going to be interesting.
