Garry wants to go to war, not to fight, not to watch people fight, but to save the people,the children that have nothing, nothing but the war around them.
He wanted to do all these things, it's all he ever dreamt about at night, but he had one thing in his way-his age, he would have to wait 2 more years, but if he did then too many people would die in that time.
When school started again all Garry's mates were talking about war and how they would go to to war when they were old enough, and nothing would get in their way. Garry listened for a while to see what they knew about the war. John said that his father had been to war before, he said he never lived till the end, but at least it was him and not anyone else because other wise that would just another upset family.
Garry went home that night and sat in his room thinking about way to get in, he wrote them in in a book, that he is planning to take to war to write his stories in. In the book it said:
Way's to get in to war when under aged..
1. Stand in the back of someone's jacket and hope they do't notice,-* still deciding
2. Beat up the guards then run in, and if someone notices you pretend to be someone called 'Mark',-
3. Dress up as someone older and fake my age.*
4. Dig a hole past the guards, if anyone asks why I'm so dirty, I'll say I fell in a pile of dirt.-

Garry thought that number three would be his best bet. So he started making himself look a older 3 weeks later, and that took him a while. He then decided to pretend to be 20 years old. He reckoned this would work well enough.
