Friends

"Beep beep beep beep It can't be time to get up yet", groaned Michelle. "I guess I'll get up and get dressed; I can't be late for my first day of school!!!!!". Michelle picked out a floral laced t-shirt and some pre ripped skinny jeans to match. She also put her brown and blonde ombré hair in a braid to finish her look. Today Michelle was on a mission and that mission was to make today perfect. Michelle ate homemade pancakes with cinnamon that her mom made for her and ran out the door to wait for the bus. Michelle waited and waited and waited - she missed the bus! She ran all the way to school; it was 30 minutes away from where Michelle lived. "Well, I guess I better run fast." Michelle busted through the door and was told to go to Mr. Champs room . She entered the room and saw all eyes on her. The only people she recognized was two mean boys from her block and she also noticed there were no friends in her class! Just great Michelle's late , Mr Champ asked her to sit down beside a girl named Betty Ann. Betty Ann had red curly hair and was wearing a polka dotted table cloth dress with brown combat boots and bright green braces on her top teeth. Betty Ann also had freckles all over her face arms and legs her eyes were a sharp blue with speckles of grey in the centre everyone in the school had a song for BettyAnn it goes like "Betty Betty freckle face she was such a big disgrace", even though I know Betty Ann may not be the most popular and pretty girl in the whole school but I will try to make good friends with her so at least I know someone in this class!!! I asked Betty Ann how her day is going and if I missed anything important she replied with " Aren't you going to say something to offend me like everyone else in this dump", I knew right away she wasn't in the mood to talk but I tried to risk it and say "no not at all I'm new here and wanted to know if you would want to hang out sometime ", saying that I got a eye roll and a a mumble saying "ya right if you want to fit in and make friends around here you would sit next to Rachel Rose and you wouldn't be taking to me", ok now at least I know who to talk to and what not to say to people who don't want to be talked to.Ring Ring Ring that was the break bell I will lay low and find my locker. I opened my lunch at my desk and ewww I smelt a gross stench coming from my lunch kit .Tuna sandwich ugh why did I have to pack that out of all the days!!! The whole class was scrunching up their noses and waving their hands trying to blow the smell away and Rachel Rose said in the most obnoxious voice ever " What died in your lunch box new girl ? You have to understand this is a school not a garbage depo you don't have to stink up the whole class !!!!", I was never so humiliated in my whole life ! Instead of running out of the class crying of embarrassment I replied with "Sorry that my tuna sandwich bothers you but I don't complain about your food so you have no right to complain about mine.", Rachel Rose was shocked that someone talked to her like that I could see it in her face.She was trying to come up with a good comeback but I think everyone knows who ended the fight , Me! After break it was music class which shouldn't be to bad right? We entered the music room it looked like a regular classroom except it was painted baby blue on the walls and had animal posters everywhere. 27 white chairs with music notes on them were in a circle for us to sit in this is going to be interesting. Mrs Note was the music teacher she wore long vibrant floral dresses and black high heels she told everyone to play what's called the name game we sit in a circle and sing our name then the whole class repeats when is was my turn I sang my name and then Rachel Rose flew a paper airplane saying something at me I would read it after music. Finally it was lunch unlike my other school we had a cafeteria which grade 5-9 ate at. I read the note that Rachel threw at me it read " Dear loser/new girl meet me at the grey table in the middle of the cafeteria at lunch we're going to finish the fight that we already started Love Rachel Rose." I slowly walked over with my tray of pumpkin pie carrots and a juice box I saw Rachel and stood up on the table facing her she shouted out load" This is the loser if you hang out with her you won't get to hang out with me or even talk with me", everyone always wanted to talk and hangout with Rachel Rose so they turned their backs on me . I don't know what to do ?I'm so confused what did I do to her ? I walked down and asked if I could sit beside Betty Ann at the orange table far in the corner she said "Not in your dreams!", So I ate by the garbage cans in the back where no one ever sits it was fine but today was supposed to be perfect. After lunch we went out for recess. I decided to go to cartwheels in the field . Rachel and her gang of girls came up to me and kicked a bunch of sand in my eyes. I wanted to hurt them so bad but I didn't instead I decided to say " Listen what's your problem did I say something to offend you why do you keep bothering me?", a couple kids near by heard what I said and they chanted "Fight Fight Fight Fight", of corse that put us in an weird position and Rachel replied to them with " we're not in grade 2 you know we will handle this later" and then she stormed away with her group of girls I think for a moment there she was a little scared to fight me. I may win this battle between her and me! It was time to go back in to do a bit of science we had to each have a partner I got paired up with Rachel. We were dissecting frogs together this will not be fun I can picture what Rachel would do to me with a scalpel in her hand! So we each got our lab coats and tools,gloves and a dead frog. Rachel tried to take the lead and do it on her own but I laid the dead frog in the middle of our two desks and forced her and myself to do it together she didn't talk to me but this is a start.At the end of science the bell rang to go home I got my green backpack out of my locker and got my black Uggs on and talked to mr Champ about what is going on with Rachel and I he said that He will talk to Rachel not only about this situation but the previous things she has done before. He promised he wouldn't mention any names. I wasn't late to go on the bus back home and it turns out Betty Ann was my new neighbour that was moving in so I sat beside her on the bus and she asked if I would like to hang out sometime I said of corse I would and asked if she would like to come over to my house today she said sure that would be fun . When Betty Ann and I got home I asked my mom if Betty Ann could hang out for a while Mom thought that would be fine.We played Twister and went to the park we laughed and laughed and laughed She decided that we were best friends and I thought that was a great plan. Betty Ann mentioned that she has had some troubles with Rachel she told her mom and mr Champ about it and she said I should do the same it was getting late and she had to go home so I waved goodbye as she jumped over the fence into her yard . Later that night I told my mom about what happen with Rachel and what I did in that situation she was proud that I told her and Mr Champ and that I stood up for myself but she did say that she would talk to Rachel's parents and tell her what's been happening at school. The next day mom said she called Rachel's parents and found out she is actually in a foster home and that her parents died three months ago she was taking her anger out on other kids and the foster lady apologized for Rachel's behaviour. I was shocked and I felt really bad for Rachel that doesn't mean she should take her anger out on kids but I know what she is going through. I walked to school and she was crying and hugged me saying repeatedly " I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry", I replied with "I know what your going through I lost my dad a year ago and I miss him dearly" at first I thought she was lying but when I walked through the door and saw her face I knew she was sorry. Betty Ann Rachel and I hung out together and became best friends It just comes to show good things come in different packages.
