It was a busy day in K City*, since people were rushing to get to work, school, or maybe some early groceries.
(F/N) was no exception. They hurriedly ran in the bustling streets, gripping the papers in their hands tightly. Working as a journalist's assistant was no easy task, after all.
While rushing through a pedestrian lane, (F/N) noticed one of those large screens on the tall buildings in the city. The program featured a hero fighting a Level Demon monster live in J City, which was fairly close to K City. But they, like the other people, didn't mind it since they were too focused on getting to work on time.
That's why no one expected that same monster suddenly crashing into that screen.
Now the people were panicking. Screams and cries could be heard as the footsteps on the running people made the ground shake a bit. The monster didn't pay attention to them, though. Its attention was on the hero that was fighting it.
(F/N) couldn't believe their eyes when they saw who that hero was.
"What are you doing?!?! We can't leave him behind!"
"There's no time to waste. We need to leave."
"But the cyborg-"
.
"NO! GENOS!"**
They stood there, paralyzed, as they remembered those horrible moments. (F/N) didn't even notice that they were in the path of the monster's attack.
They were brought back to reality when they were forcefully pushed away from where they were standing. They landed on the cold pavement, but they quickly stood up again and ran next to the badly messed up body a few meters from their spot.
"Genos! Are you okay!?" They were horrified at the blond cyborg's face, the skin(?) was partially torn off, revealing a part of his robotic skull. "Shit... Please be okay.." (F/N) muttered, hugging Genos' body up close.
"U-u-rg-h.... (F-F/N), i-s tha--t re-ALy y-ouu?" His voice was messed up due to the damage.
"Yeah, it is me."
Genos looked behind them and they followed his line of sight: a bald man just punched the monster in the face.
The best part? The monster just... splat. Eww.
The caped baldy turned to (F/N) and the badly damaged cyborg. "..So, uh, are you two done now?"

** so, what happened was this:
reader was genos' friend and stuff in the past, but then disaster struck with the cyborg and stuff. the reader and a friend or family (up to you) see genos during the incident, standing in the cyborg's path. the dialogue happens and when the reader says 'but the cyborg-', the friend/family member takes their hand and forcefully drags them away.
