The Land Beyond the Creek

Chapter 1

Waking up with a girls high pitched screaming is definitely not one of my favourite

things to wake up to. The boys have put a frog in the girls room again and guess who
has to go put it back in the garden ? Me, yeah story of my life huh ? I'm Maxine Jay my

friends call me Max well they would if I had any friends . Let's be clear I don't have the nice normal orphan girl type life , I'm a "special needs child" as they say , which is just

the polite way to say I'm a weirdo. Which , don't get me wrong I'm fine with. I couldn't
be more happy, well maybe a little . See When I was two my parents went out to go find some strange creature and the last time I heard of them was when I was three. And I'm almost 14 now, so yeah now I'm stuck in this boarding school. See I've been expelled

from almost every orphanage and foster home there is, Now its not really my fault I go through so many they're all just a bit uptight they're always saying weird things like "

She attracts trouble " or "She is a special child and deserves better than what we can
give her" just another way of saying they don't want me , and don't even get me started

on the foster homes. But trust me I've made my stand at these places. Like one time my foster brother put a rubber spider in my bed, so I put a snake in his shoe , and how was

I supposed to know that it was venomous ? So after going to the emergency services and he was fine, I was sent away . But at least they'll remember me .

So there's this dance thing on tonight and me and my partner in crime Josh are gonna make it end with a bang , a night to remember if you will . I guess he's the closest thing

to a friend that have , I help him put a fire cracker in the principles office,while he helps me put hair remover in the girls shampoo . You know the usual. So tonight just as

the ending song begins we're ganna light the fireworks we put in the snacks table, the party balloons and the Dj table . It's ganna be awesome.

But now I need to go do chores , and no it's not like Annie and "It's a hard knock life" I got in trouble again , I mean seriously it could've been anyone who put hair remover in

the girls shampoo , but they accused me of course. So now I have to clean toilets at least Josh is there to help me but like I know him he'll probably just bail, find a smart way to avoid work he always does , some friend huh. So I've done all the bathrooms except the

Main girls bathroom. Trust me not the type of bathroom you'll ever want to clean. I was just about done, the last toilet when a bunch of girls came in and when they saw me it was over they were definitely ganna do something , oh boy . " Hey there mischief,

watcha doin " said ugly number one "just chilling in my beach house with my million dollar car , I'm cleaning the toilets! what does it look like ugly ?!?! " I said. Oh no I

probably should not have said that "Get her girls!" And thats when two of her ugly friends put my head in the toilet . ( hey at least I just clead it) . But I still don't appreciate
it when people stick my head in the toilet So I threw my arms backwards with balled fists and did the impossible , made the girls even uglier . But with my luck the professor
came in right that second to inspect, he was shocked to say the least , " Well I never ! Miss Jay ! My office now!" He said. Well I guess this day can't get much worse.

So I followed the professor down the main hall. We passed a bunch of kids saying ," there she goes again" and "hope she gets it bad this time!" We went to a big door and

stepped into the professor's office it was a neat little room with lot's of maps and model aeroplanes and cars and a large oak desk with a comfortable looking chair on the other

side . "Have a seat please miss Jay "said he professor. oh no here comes the long speech , " Miss Jay are you aware that you have just passed your 7th warning , and you only get

three. . .? "Yes sir" I said " and I'm really sorry miss Jay but we're going to have to expel you " said the professor. Huh I was so shocked ! Expelled again! Oh no " What ?!?!" I said

in shock . "Where am I going to go?" I said "you were the only orphanage who would take me!" What am I going to do!? "I really am sorry, but Max you can still stay with us

until we find you a place" said the professor. "just calm down and we'll find you a place." I couldn't believe my ears! "Sure! Just ship me off again ! I don't care !" I said and

got up and stormed away.
I ran down the hall to my room collected all my things , my two sets of clothes , my

baseball cap, my hoodie and my necklace . For some reason I've always been attached to the thing it's not much it's just a silver charm that looks like some sort of tree, but I

guess some things just stick. So after stuffing my things in my bag I ran to one of the class rooms and wrote a note for Josh that said: Ran away , won't come back have a nice

I raced down the stairs, sneaked passed the teachers and Put the note under his room

door and ran out the back of the school, climbed over the wall and into the streets .
So I guess I'm homeless now. And I was wrong, the day could've got worse , but what I

didn't know is that the day was just about to get a whole lot worse.
