“Spence! Spence! Spencerrrrrr!”

I ripped off my headphones and spun myself around.

“Brooke! What are you doing?!” I questioned as I stared at my cousin who was trailing about 50 feet behind me. She was bent over trying to catch her breath and gasping for air.

“You- - you’re - - - I can’t even!”

I watched her impatiently as she slowly started to walk uphill towards me. “We’re here to run Brooke, come on! We’ve barely even hit the 2 mile mark!”

She rolled her eyes at me and started at a slow jog. I unscrewed the cap to my water bottle and took a short swig as I waited for her to catch up to me.

“You’re crazy! When you asked me to go jogging with you I thought we were going to just jog a little. I didn’t think you were going to kill me in a 5 mile sprint up to the middle of no where!” She yelled, gesturing to the scenery around us.

“Hahaha, this is a jog, but you know me when I get frustrated I run, and this is NOT the middle of nowhere, the Hollywood Sign is right over there.” I responded pointing directly ahead of us.

“You’re crazy, the Hollywood Sign is a good 3 miles ahead of us. I should’ve just went shopping with Sophia. And there isn’t even anyone here! Well, except for that guy.”

She pointed at a guy in a black and red jacket with a beanie, a little bit ahead of us that appeared to be talking to his phone, “Hey guys! Guys I got my period!!” He yelled.

“What did he just say?!” Brooke asked eyeing the guy warily.

I shrugged my shoulders, “Who cares, come on lets keep going.”

She stopped dead in her tracks and glared at me. I shook my head at her and began a slow jog up the trail while still facing her, “Oh come on Brooke, it’s not that- - “

“Spence watch out!”

“Ahhh!” I screamed as I went tumbling to the floor causing my phone to go flying out of my hand. I moaned as I rubbed my shoulder, I had collided into something.

“Oh god, I’m so sorry! Are you all right?” A voice asked me.

“Yeah I’m fine, sorry I wasn’t watching where I was---“ my eyes locked with a pair of hazel colored eyes, maybe a shade or two lighter than mine, but with hints of green. Wow, what beautiful eyes.

“Uhh, are you sure you’re okay?”

I snapped myself out of my daze and I shook my head, “Huh? Yeah, sorry.”

I took a look at the person I had collided in to. It was the guy in the black and red jacket. We were both sitting in the dirt.

He was the first to get up, “It’s fine, don’t worry about it.” He responded holding his hand out to me and to help me up. I bit my lip as I took his hand in mine and he pulled me up effortlessly.

“Spence! Spencer are you okay?! Look at your arm!” Brooke had ran the rest of the gap between us and was at my side.

“Yeah I’m fine. It’s nothing, doesn’t even hurt.” I assured her as I dusted off my light blue tank top. I had acquired a scrape on my left arm that had started to bleed.

“Again I’m so sorry.” The guy said.

I turned to face him, “No really its okay. It was my fault anyway, I wasn’t paying any attention to where I was going.”

“Luke! Luuuuke! Come on you dirty slut!” A shirtless guy had appeared at the top of the hill and yelled down at him.

My cousin and I exchanged glances at each other.

“Haha,” Luke flashed me a quick smile and picked his phone off the floor putting it in his pocket, “All right well, I hope you ladies have a great run then.”

I nodded as he turned around and continued to jog towards his friend.

“Australian.”

“What?” I turned to look at my cousin, who was still eyeing the two guys as they disappeared passed the hill.

“His accent, it’s Australian.”

“Okay, so who cares?”

“Well, he’s kind of cute, don’t you think?”

“I don’t know Brooke, I didn’t really take it into consideration as we went crashing down into the dirt.” He did have the most gorgeous eyes I’d ever seen, But I sure as hell won’t admit it to you. You’ll just make the biggest deal out of it.

“Fine. Whatever, it’s not like we’re ever going to see him again anyway. Can we go now, we should really clean up your arm before it gets infected.”

I sighed, “Okay, I guess so, let me just call Sophie to- - Hey where’s my phone?” I panicked realizing it wasn’t in my hand.

“Is this it?” Brooke picked up a blue cased iPhone from the floor a few feet in front of us.

“No, that’s a phone but it isn’t mine.”

“Hmmm..” She flipped it around in her hand a few times.

“What the hell, Brooked where’s my phone?!” My eyes searched the ground below us, but there was no sign of my phone anywhere.

“Uh-oh…” I turned to look at my cousin, she was still staring down at the phone in her hand.

I grabbed it from her, “What?” I asked looking down at the lock screen, there was a picture of 5 guys on it,

“Hey isn’t that, that Luke guy I bumped in to?” I said pointing to one of the guys in the picture.

“No,” Brooke answered pointing at another guy in the picture, “Isn’t that him?”

I looked at him, then to the guy I had previously pointed to, “They look the same!”

“So what? He’s got a twin?! Oooh, Aussie twins?!”

“Who cares if he has a twin? This is his phone! That means hes got mine!” I took off in a blaze towards the top of the hill.

“Spence, where are you going?!” Brooke yelled after me.

“I’m going to see if I can catch up to him!” I replied as I reached the top of the hill. I looked around, my eyes frantically searching for the red and black jacket, but he was no where in sight.

I frowned and turned around. Brooke hadn’t even attempted to climb the hill. She was still standing at the bottom with her arms crossed, staring at me.

“He’s gone!” I hollered down at her.

“Well, come on then, I just texted Sophie, she’s coming to pick us up!”

“What about my phone?!” I asked as I began to make my way down to her.”

“We’ll figure it out! I mean, we’ve got his phone right? I’m sure he’s going to want it back.” She replied turning around and heading down the trail.

“Wait call it! Brooke call my phone maybe he’ll answer!” I screamed in a last attempt to return my precious iphone back to me.

She glared at me for a second before pulling her phone out of her back pocket. I watched her as she brought it up to her ear. A minute later she looked up at me and shook her head, “Voicemail.”

I sighed in defeat as I followed her.

Great some random guy has got my phone and I have his
