Remembering the face that--

Why is it so cold?

It is really cold as I lay here in the darkness, unable to move, unable to speak, unable to remember. I could only think. I could only think about the darkness and the cold, what more can I do, I don't remember who I am, nor how I came to be in this place.

Am I asleep?

Where am I?

How did I get here?

These thoughts raced around my head, not allowing me to think of anything else. I laid there for what seemed like hours, days, weeks even, unable to do anything. Those thoughts began to slow down as my mind faded away into the darkness, then it hit me. Like a wave crashing against your back, in fact that's what hit me exactly, a giant wave crashed onto my back as I began to regain my sense.

First: Touch, the feel of the harsh cold water slapping my side and face.

Second: Sound, hearing the sound of cars every now and then zooming by.

Third: Smell, the faint aroma of cooked crabs in the distance

Forth: Taste, a metallic taste made its way into my mouth, along with gritty sand and sea water.

Finally: Sight, my eyes hurt as I opened them. Everything is blurry and I can't tell where I am. All I can see is the grayness around me, a color I prefer much more than black.

I stood up, but fell automatically, my knees and legs giving out under me. I extended my arms, dragging my heavy body across the sand.

I got all my sense back, but why cant I remember anything?

This was the new thought that paced itself inside my head. It is nice to finally have a new thought, but now I want to know the answer to this one more than ever. I still dragged myself through the sand, not knowing which direction to go in. I went forward, then left, then right, then left again. Even with my vision still blurry, I'm able to see that this is leading me nowhere, so I stopped and listened. The sound of the cars was coming from my right, it wouldn't be too good of an idea to go that way and take a chance at being hit. I allowed my nose to take the lead, I smelled the saltiness of the sea to my left and the faint smell of crabs ahead of me. I tried once more to stand, this time succeeding, but my steps are clumsy and uncoordinated. I'm walking though, so that is a good thing.

I noticed that my feet were bare as I felt the sand between my toes. The weather itself was fair, but my clothes are torn as the wind from the ocean crept up on my skin. I dragged my feet through the sand, following my nose until there was a brown-ish square in the distance. With my sight still blurry, I lifted my feet and began running, or at least trying to run, even though it was more like a clumsy speed walk.

I made it to the brown-ish square. At the top of it, I could see the bright red lettering that was probably the stores' name. I knocked on what seemed like a door...no answer. I knocked again, a little louder and the same result. My stomach began to rumble as I got another good whiff of the crab smell emerging from what I guess is a crab or seafood shack. I leaned against the door, forcing all my weight on it, trying to stay standing. Just then, the door swung open and fell down and hit the wooden floor with a loud THUD.

"Oh my god! Are you okay?" asked some sort of girl, she lifted me up from under my arms and dragged me to a table to sit.

"I'll get my daddy to check you out! I'll be right back" I could hear her running off into another direction, opening and closing a door. My stomach began to rumble.

Please bring so food back too, I thought, enjoying the fact that that I'm thinking more and more.

It was just a few minutes later that she came back with another person.
