(Y/N)'s POV (Important A/N: It kinda switches from ur POV to a 3rd person POV but I don't wanna break it up so I'm just telling you this... Please forgive me for the POV change, this is my first time writing a one shot. Kk! Carry on reading now!)

    I'm walking around town, bundled up in my (F/C) scarf and my (S/F/C) jacket. It is a chilly winter day, the sunlight is gently seeping through the clouds and there is an icy yet gentle breeze that keeps weaving through my hair as I walked down the sidewalk. I'm just strolling around town, enjoying the weather and doing a little bit of window shopping, when I see a shop I have never seen before. I have lived in (h/t) for all of my life, so I would have noticed at before.
I'm interested to know more about this mysterious building, so I walk over to see that it's a bakery. It is a pink building with blue trimming around the windows, a blue door, and an outer area that has a few tables and chairs for customers that would like to be seated outside.
The windows have beautiful displays that are holding many cupcakes that look delicious. The sign, in a swirly neon pink and blue font, says "Kirkland's Cupcakes."
As I open the door, a small bell rings indicating to whoever is working right now that a customer just walked in. Once I have walked into the bakery, I see that the color scheme from the outside of the bakery does not cease once I am inside this eccentric establishment.
The walls are painted a bright shade of blue and the floor is made up of bright pink and blue squared tiles. I walk up to the display counter, that houses many different varieties of pastries and other desserts. What catches my attention the most, though, is the plethora of cupcakes that sit in the display case.
They look so delectable that I can feel my mouth starting to water. I hear a British accent come from where I assume the kitchen is, followed by the light tapping sound of footsteps. "I'm so very terribly sorry if I kept you waiting for too long! How may I- (Y/n)?!"
I lift my gaze from the desserts to see my friend and lifelong crush who I haven't seen in a long time: Oliver Kirkland. "Oliver?! Oh my gosh, I haven't seen you in so long! Why didn't you tell me when you got back from England?" I scolded him.
"Well, I just was so busy starting up my business that I guess I just forgot...?" he trailed off, scratching the back of his neck with a slight blush on his face as he looked at her, a nervous smile on his face.
Actually, he had been thinking about her the whole time. He just didn't know if she was even still thinking about him any more, much less if she even remembered him, so he had just left her alone.
(Y/N) always had a crush on Oliver (ever since they were children to be exact), but she never told him that she loved him because she was scared that she would lose him if he didn't reciprocate her feelings for him. But, what she never knew is that he felt the same way about her.
(Back to reader-chan's POV)
"Do you remember the day we first met?" I asked him. He walked around the counter toward me and led me to a booth which we both sat down in. "I remember it like it was only yesterday..."
~~Flashback~~
I was 8 years old. I was walking through the park, headed to the playground to play some baseball. When I got there, I saw this pink haired boy about my age being picked on by a large group of other boys. I ran at those boys, swinging my baseball bat at them.
"Hey! Leave him alone!" I screeched. The bullies all scattered before I could actually get any good hits on them. "Are you ok?" I asked the pink haired boy. "Yes. Thank you. My name is Oliver Kirkland. What's your name?"
"My name is (Y/N) (Y/L/N). Do you wanna come play with me?"
"Sure." He replied.
And we had been best friends ever since then.
~~~End of flashback~~~
Oliver looked at me as we finished reminiscing, grabbing my hands.
"That was the day I fell in love with you.." he uttered quietly to me, looking at his shoes with a light blush on his face. "What?" I blinked, confused. Did I hear him right? He looked straight into her eyes, seeming to gain a burst of confidence, he suddenly blurted out "I love you, (Y/N)!" A huge smile spread across my face. "I love you too, Ollie" I confessed to him. He smiled, then leaned in and kissed me.
And, to think, the thing that gave us the courage to confess was our memories.~
