It was raining outside, and after about 10 minutes of deciding whether or not I should call off my plans with Julia or stay home, I decided that I'd go, I promised her I would anyways. I got up and got dressed, making sure that I dressed really warm. It's not that I don't like the rain because I do, but I hate driving in it and it makes me drowsy.
I grabbed my umbrella and made my way out of my apartment. It was pouring, God Colorado can be so unpredictable no matter what the weather women says. I climbed down the stairs and went straight to my car, got in, and immediately put the heater on. Winters here are long, a little too long if you ask me. I sat there a minute just to let the car warm up, but to also give the rain a chance to die down a bit. My phone began to ring and I looked down, Julia was calling.
"Hello?"
"Hey! Are you still coming? The movie is going to start soon."
I started my car and backed out and began heading over to the movie theater.
"Yeah, I'm in my way now."
"Still in your apartment on the way, or on the road?"
I rolled my eyes
"I'm on the road, I'll be there in 5."
"Alright I'll see you when you get here."
"Ok bye."
I hung up and placed my phone on the passenger seat. I was going through a mental list of what I needed for today which was only my wallet and phone so that was over quickly. I pulled into the parking lot and luckily it wasn't raining as hard, so I didn't take my umbrella and ran inside.
Julia was standing against the wall the tickets and her phone in hand. I walked up to her and punched her shoulder lightly.
"What movie are we seeing?" I asked
She smiled at me.
"Insurgent."
I winked at her
"Good choice. I'll go grab some popcorn and I'll meet you in the theater."
She nodded and handed me my ticket.
I walked over to the snack station and ordered a large popcorn and two sodas. I looked around as I waited. There weren't many people here today, probably because it was a Tuesday.
"Shit." I say to myself
I completely forgot about that stupid paper that I need to finish writing for my professor.
"Ma'm."
"Hm" I say as I snap out of my daze.
"Here's your large popcorn and two sodas."
"Thank you as I take my things and began walking to the theatre a guy bumped into my arm and almost made me drop everything.
"Hey!" I tell to him but he keeps walking.
"Asshole.."
I continued on to the the theater, a little pissed but it wasn't going to ruin my evening with Julia.
I walked into the theater it was dark as expected but I followed the lights until I reached my seat.
"Here you go." I nudged her and handed her, her Coke.
"Thanks" she whispered as the movie was beginning to start, I couldn't pay attention though. I had so much going on through my mind.
