There was a girl who felt alone,
empty,
worthless.
Then,
there came a boy,
with his knowing smile,
vibrant eyes,
dishevelled locks,
swift lies,
and the age-old tale started.
And you didn't do much for her,
but that little bit that you did do,
was enough for her to fall in love.
You decided you would play her,
and trick her into thinking
you fell the way she did.
When you started showing interest in her,
and decided to ask her out,
she felt like the luckiest girl in the world.
You made her feel safe,
happy,
secure.
Or what she thought was safety,
happiness,
security.
But one day,
you figured you'd had enough of her,
and you let her go.
Her heart felt broken,
emptier,
and lonelier
than ever before.
But, there was a part of her that just couldn't let go of you.
So for the longest time she held on to you,
and one day,
you decided to talk to her,
and play her again.
Of course she fell for it,
just like she fell for you,
and your lies,
and just like last time,
you decided you had
enough of her,
and let her go.
Instead of being heartbroken,
she felt used and,
stupid.
But she learned not to be so naive,
but to be careful, as well as wiser and kinder.
So,
after two years of holding on to you,
one day she let you go.
Instead of hurting more than she already did,
when she let you go,
she did the unthinkable:
she flew.
And when I flew,
I learned to love the girl,
who wouldn't let you go.
