She sensed today was different. Today was one of those days when she realized that the world doesn't revolve around her. Yeah yeah, most people learned this when they are little. She did too, except she actually comprehended it this time. The world froze for her as it kept spinning for others, maybe even faster for some. For her though, the world ended. Right then and there, never expected it coming.
The day started normal, just like any other. Julia sat on her bed at her grandmother's talking to all of her internet friends, while her grandma was immensely into her daily dose of drama. Her grandma usually watched Dalton Abbey every week, and if she missed an episode that week you better be on her good side. That was the only time she was scared of her tiny 5'1" granny. As julia was texting her heart out her mom messaged her.
hey sweetie. i need you to come home and do some chores while im at work.
okay...when are you going to work?
in about half an hour
okay. i'll walk home. love you! have fun at work!
ill try. love you too!
Julia texted all of her friends bye and hugged her grandma goodbye. "love you grandma, mom needs me home to clean" her grandma simply nodded and smiled. "love you too. i'll see you sometime soon" Julia grabbed her purse and headed out the door. While blaring music by the bands 'sleeping with sirens' and 'my chemical romance' she looked suspiciously at every car driving by. Ever since she was little she loved murder mysteries, but her mother loved a tv show called 'Law and Order: SVU' that show dealt with rape cased and murder rape cases. Now because of that show she was leary of any person in a car slowly driving by.
When she got home she did her chores quickly and fell asleep. A couple times her fat, persian cat jumped on her so she would pet her. Julia petted the fuzzy cat and drifted back off to sleep in no time. Her dreams were filled with the most randomest thoughts: cats, lollipops, Starbucks, and anything zoo related. The week had been stressful enough: school finals, her after school program, playing her flute in the marching band, and also being there for her friends when they go through stuff. When she heard her phone go off loudly with a ringing that would hurt anyones ears. That is exactly why she used it.
sehe answered hurriedly to stop the annoying noise.
"hello?"
"hey. its mom. i'm not going to be home tonight."
"why?" Julia asked scared to death. She had this thing, she doesn't know what it is but she over thinks everything. She can't even drive without becoming one of those slow, incredibly cautious drivers that you want to run over and drive on.
"grandma is in the hospital. she couldn't walk, also the doctors believed it was a stroke. i will tell you more about it when i learn more. bye, love you" her mom abruptly hung up on her before julia could say goodbye.
Her mind raced as she took a shower. All she thought about was if she could've somehow stopped this from happening,'was it because i was texting? If i wasn't texting would this happen?' She played many scenarios through her head and it always ended 'i could of stopped it'.
Trying to clear her mind, julia went on a walk. on this walk she went a new way. Usually she goes down to main street, takes a right down 3rd street and enters the art museum. Scanning the artwork she forgets all about what is happening in her life. Her thoughts at that moment were: 'look at this painting...oil oaint, i remember that stuff takes a long time to dry. Oo! look at this one. Looks like watercolor, is that why we only use that type of paint as a little kid?' absorbed in her thoughts she wondered the art gallery for hours. Finally, she leaves and heads for home. As always she scans the cars to check that there arent any dead people or rapists around. It wasnt healthy for her to be watching that show, but she is adicted. Netherless she paced the pavement. Her mind being clear and only focusing on painting techniques she heard a sudden loud beep. Almost jumping out of her skin she looked at the car. it looked fine, but who was in it?
suddenly her mom yelled through the window "get your a$% over here! were are going to the hospital." sprinting across the street she hopped into the car, her mom speeding off quickly. something was really wrong. her mom never cussed at her unless she was really stressed about something important. "mom, are you okay?" trying to sound as calm as she could, but inside she was thinking about the worst possible outcomes that could be it. she didn't think of this one though. "grandma has cancer." tilting her head she tried to figure out what was going through her mom's head. she seemed totally calm, but she knew better than to believe that. "are you okay?" giving her mom the most sincere face she could muster.
