"You have your plane ticket?" Lily asked me, checking my baggage for the fourth time.
"Yes Lily I have my plane ticket" I answered holding it up and waiving it around dramatically.
"Your passport?" Lily asked.
"Yes I have m---"
"Your camera?" Lily asked cutting me off.
"Yes Lily I have everything. You've checked my bag four times already, and you've been through the list six times. I think I'm good!" I said taking the list out of her hands.
"But what if you forget som---"
"uuuuggghhh Alex!" I groaned as he walked into the room with food in his hands.
"What?"he asked taking a bite.
"Is that all you do is eat?!" I asked grabbing a pillow off the couch and throwing it at him.
"NO! I do other things too like not bailing on my best friends for example!" he said sarcastically.
"Alex! C'mon we've talked about this! I'm not bailing on you guys!" I exclaimed letting out a huff.
"Oh I wasn't talking about you but since you're bringing it up I---"
"Alex just stop please, you're not really making my last hour at home fun!" I said trying to make him feel bad.
"Okay, okay I'm sorry. What'd you call me in here for?" he asked throwing the pillow back.
"Can you tell Lily that I'm perfectly packed and she doesn't need to check again please?" I asked him but looked at Lily the entire time.
"Lily you heard the girl, 'she's perfectly packed and you don't need to check again' " Alex said mimicking my voice.
"Okay fine I'm done checking. It's already 12:40 and you need to check in at 1 so let's get going" Lily said walking towards the door and opening it so Alex could take my luggage out to the car.
Alex took most of my luggage out and Lily started the car, the only thing left was my carry-on bag and my camera bag. I took one last look around the room that I had been so familiar with for so many years and whispered to myself "Time for a new adventure' before walking out and locking the door.
"I'm gonna miss this place." I said looking out the window as we pulled out of the driveway.
"Well we're not." Alex said trying to lighten up the mood.
We arrived at the airport and Alex helped carry my bags for me until we got to the terminal.
"Flight 451 you're plane is now boarding." we heard over the intercom.
"Well that's me." I said taking my suitcase from Alex and smiling.
"Aww Lily don't look at me like that! I'll be back in 8 months." I said trying to keep Lily from crying.
"I know, I know. Gosh I'm such a baby." she said giving me a hug and whispering "be safe" before she broke away.
"Bye Sam! Go take some rad pictures and shit." Alex said giving me a hug, which made everyone laugh and made the moment a little bit sweeter.
"Oh! I almost forgot! Picture time!" I said taking out my camera and getting us all in the frame, "to new adventures" I said before snapping the picture.
"Bye guys! I'm gonna miss you!" I said before walking away and handing the lady my ticket. They waved and I was off to find my seat for this 5 hour flight. I found my seat and put my carry-on bag in the compartment. There was no one sitting next to me so I figured this flight might be a tad more enjoyable. I sat down and put my headphones trying to knock out for a few hours, besides I have a long tour ahead of me.
