Megan and Rose became friends unlike any I had had before. They actually cared about me and thought I was cool. They thought I was funny and liked the fact that I was always stating random facts. The two of them made my eighth grade year great. I had a lot classes with them like gym, chorus, and other electives.
On the weekends I would hang out with Amber at her house. I was still closer to Amber than I was to Megan and Rose. I would always question her about my new best friends.
"So, Amber, where do Rose and Megan live?"
" Well, Abrielle, Rose lives literally right up the street from you and Megan lives in the next township over."
I asked her questions about their families and the boys they talk to and just basic information about them. I found out that Rose's parents were both immigrants, her mother from Ecuador and her father from Puerto Rico. I also learned that Megan has a tough home life when it comes to her parents, but Amber didn't go into much detail.
I really liked my underclassmen friends but it was nice to hang out with kids from my own class. For the most part I hung out with the girls on the cheer squad. During jr. High cheer there was about ten girls who cheered. Three of them became really close to me, Katie, Mason, and Lizzy. The three of us got along so well. I don't know if it was just because of the circumstances or if we just had good chemistry, but we were really close. We were very civil when it came to distributing leadership since we were the eldest of the cheerleaders on the squad.
When tryouts for the next year rolled around we were eligible to make varsity. We made a pact that no matter how it turned out, we would not get mad at each other and we would stay friends. The pact ended up being useless because we all made varsity and were the youngest ones on the squad.
It all seemed like a dream, until the school year ended and practice started.
