After my last period before lunch, I put my books away and headed towards the front steps. I saw Leo waiting for me.
"Where are we going?" I asked. I had never been off campus for lunch before.
"Follow me," he replied. He walked to the edge of the grounds and turned left.
"Leo," I said. "There's no places to eat over here."
"Just watch," he said confidently. Sure enough, after walking for a bit, he brought us to a small diner like place.
As we walked in the door, everyone seemed to know him. I heard shouts of "Leo!" "How are ya bud?" Who's your friend?" all around the place. I looked at Leo. He gave me a reassuring smile. I felt a little better.
"Everybody, this is Ally Jackson. She's new to L.A. and is just getting used to it. Be nice to her." I looked at him and smiled.
"Ally," he said. "This is Johnny, Bo, Lonny, Allan, and the owner Jerry."
"Nice to meet you," I said with a smile. Everybody looked at me and waved. Leo seated us next to window and ordered some food.
"How do you know these people?" I asked.
He hesitated. "Uh, we have acquaintances," he finally answered.

We finished our meal and headed out the door. We walked back to school almost silently.
We got back just in time for our next class.
"See ya later," I said.
"See ya," he replied. And we went our separate ways.
As I walked into algebra, I saw someone sitting right next to where I sit. Hmm...I didn't notice them yesterday...oh well. I sat down and opened my book.
"You're welcome," said the girl that was next to me.
"What?" I asked her.
"You're welcome."
"For what?"
"Your sweatshirt."
"That was you?"
The girl nodded.
"Well, thanks I guess. What's your name?"
"Kira."
"That's a nice name, I'm Ally."
"I know."
"Oh, ok."
"Ok class! First things first, please open your books to page 213 where we will talk about the meaning of the x variable!" The teacher came in with a loud booming voice and I just kinda zoned out.

At the end of class Kira came up to me.
"Wanna eat lunch with me tomorrow?"
"I'll think about it," I said. I wondered if Leo would want me to eat with him. Kira smiled and walked away. I went back to my locker to get my books for the next class. When I turned around, I saw Frank, Ty, and their gang. I looked around. Leo was nowhere to be found.
