"Come on Brianna, please let me drive!" Nikki begs, hanging on to my arm and trying to wrestle the keys out of my hand.
"No! You drive like a bat out of hell, I'm not letting you." There's no point in me trying to hold the keys out of her reach because she's wearing skyscraper heels and towering over me, I just have to be firm with her right now. But then she sticks her bottom lip out. "Please, Breezy, don't make me more sad."Now that's just not fair.
You see, John broke up with her two weeks ago, because she did something he didn't like. I won't go into detail, because its her business, but she couldn't stay in his house. So she decided to come down to Phoenix and live with me. I didn't mind. It's good for me to have company, especially her company, seeing as Bryan divorced me. I kept the house, and I kept Josie. No way was I letting him take her away from me.Anyway. Nicole knows I can't say no to her sad face, I never have been able to. "Fine, you can drive." I give her the keys and go round to the passenger side, buckling myself in.
I know as soon as she gets the car onto the road and starts driving that I've made a huge mistake. She's driving so fast and we're getting beeped from all directions, and she's yelling insults back at them, it's a nightmare. Worse than a nightmare. "Nicole, please slow down! And stop screaming at everyone!"
She doesn't listen to me, though, she just rockets past everyone who has a problem with her.She doesn't notice the huge car coming toward us at a speed that outstrips ours, and I notice it far too late. I can hear that I'm screaming and then she's screaming and even the sound is identical, and then I hear the crash and the metal crumpling when the two cars collide, and I see the glass screen getting closer and closer to my face. I try to reach for Nikki and I think I've found her hand when everything just goes black.
