I

I walked out of my house, sliding my red coat on and pulling on my gloves as I entered the cold, January air. I slid my phone in my pocket and began to walk to the coffee shop. As cold as it was, I felt like a walk was needed just to clear my thoughts.

I walked on the cracked sidewalk, seeing runners and bicycles zoom past me.

I put my arms around myself as a heavy wind blew. Yorkshire is a very pretty city in England, though the winters are very chilly here, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else.

After arriving at the nearest coffee shop, I went in, escaping the cold weather. A bell sounded as I opened the door. People looked my way. I never liked attention, so I was feeling uncomfortable as people continued to stare at me.

I went over to order my coffee. Eyes weren't looking at me anymore, but at the customer who had entered.

Jeez, what's up with these people and staring at everyone who enters the shop?

"What?", a mans voice asked angrily as he was the customer. I feel you, man. This caused my attention, now, as I glanced at the man. He had long, brown curls and a striking face. I turned my attention back to the line as he got behind me.

I heard sighing and cursing from him. I turned around to see his eyes rimmed red.

"Is everything okay?", I asked him.

"Is it any of your business?," I turned back around to the front.

"Hey, I'm sorry. Rough day", he apologized. I didn't turn around.

"I said I'm sorry", he spoke loudly. I turned around this time.

"Okay", I said in the same voice tone he gave me. He has some serious issues. I heard a sniffle from behind me. I looked back, pretending I was looking at something other than him when I seen him wiping his eyes with his palm and a tear rolling down his cheek.

"What is-" I was interrupted when he exited the coffee shop.

It was my turn to order.

"Just two dark coffees, please", the woman placed my order and said: "it'll be just a minute", I nodded and tapped my foot on the ground

She handed me the two coffees and I replied with a thank you, exiting the shop.

I was planning on heading straight home to get this coffee to my mum, but then I noticed that man from the shop sitting at the bench outside the door. He was crying. Uncontrollably.

I slowly sat down on the bench with him, but not too close.

He was still crying as he glanced at me. "What?,"

"Oh, I don't know. It's not like you're sitting here crying on a bench or anything", I told him. He glared at me.

"Will you just . . . leave me alone?".

"Alright. I have to get home anyway".

He put his head on his knees and I could hear his cries continue.

I was about to walk away before I turned around. "Hey"

He lifted his head up and looked at me, his face and eyes red from crying.
