Pipers POV

Beep beep
Beep
Beep beep beep

A tingle shot through my fingertips, up through my arm and into my face.
"Her face twitched, her face twitched!" A familiar voice shouted though the silence.
I thought to myself - hard. Eyes move! Move!
"She did it again! She's waking up!
I felt a hand slip under mine, the fingers became intertwined with mine.
"Please wake up, I know you can do it"
EYES OPEN! PLEASE OPEN!
I felt a warm breath on my cheek followed by a damp kiss.
I thought as hard as I could. PLEASE OPEN!

A bright white light filled my mind, a blurred figure stood within it. please
The figure slowly became more clear. A brown haired boy stared at me, smiling like a crazy person. Tanner?
"Hey Pipe" he whispered "Had us scared for a while, but I knew you could do it."
I felt the warmth of his hand still entangled in mine and squeezed it tightly. I love you.
The world slowly came through again, the low dull beep of the heart monitor, the warmth of Tanner's hand in mine and the smell of the colourful flowers that filled the room.
I breathed in deeply and mustered all the strength I could "Hi Tanner" I said in a strangled whisper.

Tanners POV.
"Hi Tanner"
My heart dropped, a smile crept across my face. She was awake. She was okay. I can love her.
"Hello there Pippy, how you feeling?"
She smiled "I'm okay. I guess, tired but surviving"
"Awh Pippy, you're a fighter. You always have been."
"Tanner?" Piper whispered, her cheeks turning pink.
"Yeah"
"I love you too by the way."
I felt my cheeks heat up and my smile widen. "You heard that?" I blushed.
"Yes, I did".

I stared at the beautiful girl that was once led lifeless on a hospital bed as she sat up and smiled at me. The warmth of her skin made everything okay again, the world didn't seem so broken and my life didn't seem to be fading away anymore. Ten minutes ago we had less than six hours to live and now our lives seems to have infinite possibilities.
As the nurses poked at Piper and whispered words like strange and miraculous recovery, I was fixated on her face, she seemed to have this new found light, a sparkle in her eyes that I'd never seen before.

The doors flew open sending a cold breeze through the room, standing in the doorway was Avery. Smiling brightly with tears of happiness flowing down her cheeks
"Your okay?! Piper I was so worried" she shouted as she rushed over to the bedside.
"Yes. I'm fine" Piper giggled
Avery stared at her sister a little longer, before looking at me.
"Tan. She's okay" she whispered
I nodded "she is" I felt another smile creep onto my face "maybe you should go and get your parents - their in the relatives room"
Avery smiled before spinning on her heels, "I will do just that." As she reached the door she turned again "I love you lil sis by two minutes" she laughed blowing a kiss.
Piper pretended to catch it in her hand and placed it against her chest, "I love you too big sis by two minutes" she laughed back.

I smiled softly, squeezing her hand tightly. "How did we end up like this?" I muttered glancing at Piper.
"I don't know Tan, but I love it"
I felt my cheeks turning red as she looked at me smiling brightly.

After what felt like hours of doctors and nurses rushing in and out of the hospital room, running test after test on poor Piper they finally said she could be discharged.
Avery and her parents crowded around Pipers bedside with smiles glued to their faces, I held tightly onto her hand vowing to protect her for the rest of my life.
"Here you go sweetie" a fair headed nurse beemed as she helped Piper sit up. Another nurse stood at the bedside with an outstreched arm ready to guide Piper into a wheelchair.
I grabbed her wrist as she span, unsteadily and dropped into her chair. She smiled at the nurses "Thanks."
Pipers family followed the nurses out to reception to fill out all the remaining forms, leaving us alone in the hospital room, I looked down at her sweet face "You doing okay Pippy?"
She shrugged half heartedly "I heard them tell mum I may never walk again." She whispered forcing a smile.
I smiled, dropping my crutch on the floor I slowly made my way down on my knees so I could face her, I reached out my arm and ran my hand along her hairline.
"You'll be okay bab, your a figher. And if not, I'll be there every step.."
"Lets not use that saying" she laughed.
"Oh.. Ohhhh.. Yeah, as I was saying, I will be there for you, forever."
I lent forwards and planted a kiss on her forehead, she let out a small giggle.
"Thank you Tan, I knew it was you. It was always you."
I stood up silently and put my hands on the handles of her chair.
"You ready?" I asked in my most serious voice. Piper laughed again.
"With you, always."
With those words I pushed her through the door of the hospital room and into the long corridor.
"Watch out! Beautiful girl coming through!" I shouted as loud as I could.
Piper let out a feeble laugh as I pulled her chair back "aaaaand we're off!" I laughed pushing her chair forward as hard as I could, Piper cheered with happiness as I limped behind, holding my crutch tightly so I didn't drop it. Man I love her.

Pipers POV

He makes me so happy.
I cheered as my chair rolled down the corridor, turning my head back I couls see Tanner struggling to run after me, the cast on his foot bumping on the floor as he limped, using his crutches to pull himself forward.
"Come on slow coach!" I laughed as I pulled on the break and slowing myself to a stop. He smiled and took a deep breath in,
"I'm coming.. some of us don't have wheels yanno." I shook my head, laughing as I span my chair back around.

Stood in front of me was Avery and my parents,
"There you two are" my mum laughed putting her arm on my shoulder and placing a kiss on my forehead.
"We best get off home, Tanner do you need a lift?" She asked polietly.
He smiled "Yeah that would be awe..."
"Mum, is it okay if he stays at ours, I mean his flat is on the 6th floor and the lifts broken. He can't walk up all those stairs like that." I interupted.
My mum shrugged and looked at my father "I mean..." I frowned.
"Please''
She smiled "I guess its okay."
I watched Tanner try and hide his smile as my father walked over to him.
"Come on son, let me help." He wrapped his arm around Tanners shoulder and directed him to our car.
Avery and my mum struggled as they lifted me into the back seat of our car. After a full 15 minutes we were all safely strapped in and finally on our way home.
I Smiled as Tanner drapped his arm over my shoulders. Can only get better from here. I laughed under my breath and pecked his cheek, watching as a smile formed on his lips.
