Everyone looks at the door. The principal is the only thing that can be seen. Everyone instantly looks at Nick, the school trouble-maker.
"Oooooooooohhhh!"
Nick just laughs. "Thanks, you guys."
The teacher opens the door. "Do you need Nick?"
The principal laughs. "Not this time. You have a new student." He moves aside to let a young woman step forward. "This is miss K-"
"Kid. It's just Kid." She shoots the principal a look and heads inside. "Thank you very much, Principal. I think I can find my way from now on."
"Of course, Miss Holmes. Have a nice day." With that, he closed the door.
"Well, Kid. Welcome to the class. Anything you'd like to say about yourself?"
"I like to have my actions speak for me."
"Surely. You can have a seat between Jeana and Nick."
"Ooooooohhhh!"
"Quiet! Now, that team of three was going to be James, Dillon, and Nick, but you can join them, Kid."
"What are ya'll doing?"
"Earthquake-proofing a model house."
"Done. Piece of cake."
"We'll see... Anyway, the rest of the teams are..."

"Kid! Hey, Kid!" Nick shouted, running fast to catch up with her.
"Huh? Oh. Hey." She turned her head slightly, then kept walking.
"That was cool. What you did with Teach?"
"Uh-huh."
"Let me see your schedule." She handed it over. "Your schedule is almost the same as mine."
"Huh."
"Follow me. Next class is this way."
