Techno Angel
Chapter 1
Opening the door to my house I screamed in horror as my father held a gun to my mother's head. Hanna clamped her hand over my mouth but it was too late. Snapping his attention in our direction and back he mercilessly pulled the trigger. I could see my mother's head snap back as blood splattered all over the walls, his tear stained face, and finally staining his white collared business shirt before her body dropped lifelessly into a pool of her own blood. Without so much as a second thought he then leveled the gun to aim at me as he spoke in a cracked voice.
"I'm so sorry. But I failed. I failed, and now they're coming for us. You have to understand I'm doing this for all of us!" with that, he pulled the trigger.
"Kira, watch out!" Hanna screamed pushing me out of the way as the bullet exploded out of its chamber and flew towards us with a spark of light and a smoking trail.
Everything slowed to a point of almost stopping. Every sound faded away until I could only hear Hanna's whimper as the bullet plunged into her chest. Crawling to her on my hands and knees I gathered her in my arms, cradling her as realization struck. I uselessly pushed my hand on the heavily bleeding wound as her dark hazel eyes fogged over, she stared blankly up into mine with fear and pain edged in her face. A shadow crossed over me, but I didn't have to look up to know it was the demon I once called, father. He collapsed to his knees crying into his hands still clutching the gun.
"You killed them. You killed my mother and sister." I breathed between sobs with so much hatred and sadness.
"I'm so sorry Kira...I-I thought I was doing the right thing... I was only trying to do what I thought was best for our family. You have to understand..." he stuttered as if realizing what he had just done as he lifted his head enough to look at me with a lost expression.
He tried to touch Hanna but I slapped his hand away and looked him in the eye outraged and shattered that he just ripped my own mother and twin away from me and stated it was 'the right thing to do.' In that instant the street lights flashed on, growing brighter and brighter before they exploded simultaneously; leaving us alone in the inky shadows casted by the setting sun. I watched him through my blurry eyes overflowing with tears. I flinched when he lifted the gun once again, but this time instead of aiming it at me he placed it to his temple and before he fired he repeated over and over again, 'I'm so sorry.'
.....
It's been seven years since the day my life was taken from me. And since that day I've been known as the girl who lost everything. I sat under the full moon on the edge of the forest near a forgotten path as tears flowed from my dull hazel eyes. My long black bangs fell into them when I stared down at the silver hand gun lying in the grass beside me. This wasn't only the anniversary of that one 'tragic' day, but our birthday as well. I was labeled as the outcast at school and the murderer's daughter in town.
Everyone who knew either pitied me or feared me. Those who didn't thought that I was some bad ass, lone wolf that they don't want to mess with. But it all stops now. Tonight I'd end my misery and exile to this hollow life. No one will know, no one will miss me, and no one will care.
Wiping my eyes I reached for the cold steel weapon with a shaky hand. Looking up past the ancient oak trees at the full moon and shining stars I placed the gun to my temple. The feeling of it against my skin sent an icy chill up and down my spine. Suddenly a silky male voice rang out with alarm ringing in each word but I didn't bother to look.
"Hey, wait! Stop!" the voice called out over and over.
Ignoring it I slipped my finger onto the trigger and took a deep breathe. Before I could shoot I was interrupted by a body slamming into my thinner one; knocking me onto my back and pinning me down. The gun flung out of my hand and disappeared into the tall green grass. Stunned I locked eyes on a pair of piercing blue ones.
