I was playing on my phone in a crowded room. “Come on Dan, get off your ass and start talking to people!” PJ yelled at me over the music that was playing I noticed someone else playing across the room playing on his phone. “Go talk to him.” Peej encouraged. I stood up and walked over to the black haired boy.

“H-Hi.” I stuttered nervously. He looked up and smiled. I was captivated by his bright blue eyes.

“Hi, I’m Phil.” He told me.

“I’m Dan.” I said back.

“What brings you here?”

“PJ thinks I need more friends. What about you?”

“Same. Do you want a drink?” He pointed to the wine bottles and glasses to them. I nodded and picked up 2 of the clean glasses. “Red or white?”

“Red please.” I answered nervously.

“Are you okay?” Phil gave me a glass while he asked this.

“I don’t really like talking to people.” I admitted.

“Me neither.” He smiled. We talked anyway and I looked over to PJ, who was smiling like an idiot. Me and Phil carried on talking for about 3 hours and we were quite drunk at this point. We kept asking each other random questions. “Okay, okay, my turn,” Phil started, “how old are you?”

“Eighteen, you?” I responded.

Twenty two. Your turn!”

“Favourite colour?”

“Rainbow or neon!”

“Phil, rainbow isn’t a colour.”

“Yes it is!” He retaliated. I laughed and waited for him to think of a question. “Umm… Gay or straight?”

“Both. I’m bi.” I answered. “What about you?”

 “Same here buddy. Your turn.”

 “Favourite band?”

 “Muse. Yours?”

 “Muse! Next question please.”

 “Favourite Muse album?”

 “Let’s say it together! 3… 2… 1!”

“Origin Of Symmetry!” We said in unison.

“Okay, you are now officially my best friend!” I announced. “And don’t take that lightly. I’ve never had a best friend before!”

“I’m honoured you gave me the role. You’re my best friend too.” He smiled. “You doing anything tomorrow?”

 “Nope.”

 “Fancy doing something with me?”

“Sure. What did you have in mind?”

 “Cinema?”

“Sure, but I like sleeping so can we go in the afternoon?” I used my pouty face and he awed.

“You’re so cute when you do that!” He put his hand over his mouth and awed again. “Sure we can do it in the afternoon. How about 3?”

 “Sounds good.”

“You guys have really hit it off, can I pick friends or what?” PJ joined in the conversation.

“Hey Peej, why haven’t I met Dan before?” Phil asked.

“Yeah PJ! Why haven’t I met Phil until now?” I piled on.

“I didn’t think you guys would be friends.” He told us.

“What the hell are you talking about?” I asked.

“Don’t get me wrong Dan, you’re hot but you are the most sarcastic twat to walk the earth and… Phil is a cute, kind and sweet guy.” PJ told me. That was true. I was a twat and Phil was sweet. I mean, I know I just met him but he seemed so cute and innocent. Something I definantly wasn’t. “Do you get what I’m saying?” PJ asked, bringing me out of my trance.

“Yeah Peej, I get it.” I responded. I looked at my watch. I had to get home. “Well guys, I have to leave. Phil, I’ll see you tomorrow.” I was about to walk away when Phil grabbed my arm.

“Wait!” he said. He pulled out a pen and qrote something on my hand. “Here’s my number. Call me sometime.” He smiled and let me go.

“Bye Peej, see you tomorrow Phil.” I smiled. I walked home instead of getting someone to pick me up. I got home at around 3a.m. “Daniel James Howell, where the hell have you been?” my father’s voice boomed from the living room.

“Hey Dad, I was at PJ’s party.” I said calmly.

 “What took you so long?”

“I met somebody, alright? Get off my back, God!” I trudged up the flight of stairs to my room. Usually my mum was the one asking questions, but she was in London for the weekend. I walked into my room and found my brother Adrian. “Adrian, get out of my room!” I yelled at him.

"What crawled up your ass and died?" he asked angrily.

"Sorry, it's just Dad's pissed me off. Just get out. I want to sleep." I tell him. He walks past me and shuts the door. I slide off my jeans and my t-shirt and climb into my comforting bed. I looked at my hadn and saw the note Phil had left with his phone number.

It was fun talking to you. We should do it more often:

(Insert phone number here)

Phil ;-)

I laughed and put his number in my phone. I try to sleep but I just can't. I take my phone from the bedside table and sent a text to Phil. We were texting eachother for about an hour before I told him I was tired and he sent me a video message. I plugged in my black and red headphones and listen to the video.

"Hey Dan! Hope you have a good sleep and I will see you tomorrow." He said sweetly. He winked and the video ended. There was something about Phil that made me feel safe, secure. I watched the video again and thought about my feelings for Phil. I really like him. He's a great person, a great friend. The best, but I couldnt help thinking there was something more than 'like'. What the hell am I doing? I just met him. I closed my eyes and fell asleep.
