Derek sat down in the chair closest to the window. He glanced out and looked at the city. Mitty had gone to England to meet up with some family, and had left around two months ago. Apparently someone had lost their home and he went to help them find and afford an apartment. He did invite Derek to come along with him, but he had to stay behind and finish the rest of his semester in college. Derek was done with it now, which is why he got to come to the airport to wait for Mitty. Derek continued to stare out the window, pointing things out to himself.

'I always forget how beautiful this city can look. You never notice until your on the outskirts,' Derek thought.

He looked down at his watch, which shined the numbers 6:34 quite brightly. Mitty's plane was supposed to arrive around seven, or that's what he thought Mitty had texted. Derek sighed and looked at the people around him. They were all simply the people you would suspect to see on a daily basis. Except for one lady. The lady who was biting her lip and twitching violently. Then again, that kinda was something you'd see in New York. Derek stopped staring at the lady and stood, deciding that to waste some time he would go get a smoothie and possibly a magazine to read. He walked over to where all of the food stations were and walked up to the McDonalds that was nearby.

"Welcome to McDonalds, may I take your order?" The cashier asked.

Derek nodded and said, "Yes I would like a Pomegranate smoothie please."

The lady nodded and began tapping on the electronic that stated your order. Derek watched as she did so and rubbed his arm to get rid of the feeling of discomfort he had. He never really enjoyed talking to strangers, but he always had to do it. The cashier continued to tell him what to do and where to wait for his order. Derek walked to the spot she had said to wait and stood beside an older lady. He smiled at her and turned to look away, yet she began talking to him.

"So are you boarding a plane or waiting for someone?" She asked.

"I'm waiting for someone," Derek responded.

"Hm I see. Is it your girlfriend?"

Derek smiled, " Something like that."

The old lady smiled and was starting to tell him her life story, yet luckily Derek's name was called and he said goodbye to get his smoothie. He got his drink and went to get his magazine. He ended up choosing the most recent one about celebrities, and returned to his seat. Derek looked down at his watch which now read 6:47.

'Wow time flies when your shopping,' He thought.

Derek began reading his magazine and sooner or later the clock ticked 7:00. He looked up and saw that people were exiting the the hall and going to their loved ones. Derek smiled and looked around for Mitty. Families and couples were hugging and kissing all around him and to be honest Derek couldn't wait until he could do the same to Mitty. He continued to wait and soon realized that people had stopped coming out. Derek slightly frowned and looked around once more.

'Where is he? He did say it was the 7:00 plane right?' Derek thought.

He looked at his phone and checked to make sure he didn't make a mistake. Sure enough he stated that he would be here by 7:00.

Derek texted Mitty, "Where are you? I'm waiting near the food center."

Derek waited a bit for him to respond. Nothing. He frowned and put his phone away and stood to go ask a worker if they knew if Mitty Blake had gotten on the plane.

"Excuse me ma'm, did a man named Mitty Blake get on the 7:00 plane?" He asked.

The lady smiled at him, " Let me check."

She then went behind a desk and checked a few things on her computer.

" No sir, he did not get on that plane," she said with a frown.

Derek frowned more and began to look worried. " Oh well. Thank you for checking," He said before walking away.

'Where could he be? Why didn't he get on the plane? Don't tell me he got kidnapped again,' Derek thought.

By the minute he got more and more worried. Without realizing it he began pacing. His mind was racing with thoughts and soon he began tearing up. Derek went and sat down in his seat and sniffled.

'What if he's hurt on the side of the road with no one to help him?' Derek thought.

Derek then began crying. Which soon turned into sobbing, and when Derek cried, it was a heartbreaking scene. He stayed like that and every once in a while he would wipe his eyes, only for more tears to cover his vision. Derek only looked up when he heard someone running towards him. Mitty ran as quick as he could over to Derek and wrapped him in a hug. Derek sniffled and buried his face in his neck and continued to cry.

" Why weren't you there?" Derek asked even though it was quite muffled from Mitty's jacket.

Mitty put a hand in Derek's hair and rubbed his scalp. He laughed. "I kinda got on the wrong plane," Mitty said.

Derek lifted his head and looked at him as if he was the stupidest human being in the world. Mitty snickered, " Hey don't look at me like that."

Mitty leaned in and kissed Derek. Quick and sweet. Derek slowly smiled and grabbed Mitty's hand. Mitty intertwined their fingers and they left the airport together.
