time passed slowly,
and I grew wildly..
Ahh! shades of summer,
stories of yonder..
became home for a lark,
who returned only at dark..
a wood-peckered its way,
squirrels would climb in the day..
the children played and sing,
then, under my wing..now I grow slower,
times have gone wilder..
the shades of winter,
stories of slumber..
all fast asleep,
in a dream so deep..
afar I watched them all,
awaiting I stood tall..
for the sun to shift,
and the darkness ter lift..
