"Maria Sant?" said the teacher, calling role.

"Here." Maria answered.

"Blake Turner?"

"Here." Blake answered.

"Taylor Umstead?"

"Here." I answered. My voice came out just above a whisper. I am not really quiet but everyone at school thinks I am. To them I am the poor emo girl that talks to no one. But none of them know me, at all. If they knew me, the real me, then they would pity me, or even turn me into the police. That's why I don't talk to anyone, unless it's a teacher in class. It's not like I hate anyone, or life. I just value my life and I am fine with it just the way it is.

"Okay class, we will be working on a project with partners." I sat up when I heard that. Working with partners mean I would have to talk to someone else. Well there is twenty-nine people in the class so one person would have to work alone. I sighed in relief at the thought that I could work alone.

"I have already picked your partners, and one group will be a group of three, so no one has to work alone." The teacher said smiling, I groaned. There goes my chance of working alone and not talking.

I didn't bother listening to the other groups, I just listened for my name.

"Taylor and Josh." The teacher said winking at me. Of course, she would put me with the biggest jerk in the world.

"Okay, the project is: you have to translate the poems you are assigned into what you think they mean. They are due in one month. You might also have to meet up with your partner to finish in time. One poem will be due each week, and then overall project in one month. You have the rest of the class to get started." she explained and handed out the poems.

I could probably do the whole project by myself and write his name on it. Then I wouldn't have to talk to him or waste my time with him.

"Hello?" I was brought out of my thoughts as Josh waved his hand in front of my face. I stared at him, waiting for him to say something else. When he said nothing I got out my notebook and started to 'translate' one of the poems we were given.

"Are you going to talk to me at all?" Josh asked.

"No." I replied.

"Haha, you just did." He said.

"Look, I will do all of the work and put you name on it, okay? Just leave me alone." I said sternly.

"Okay, wow. Well we should still meet up later, if you know what I mean." he said, winking.

I groaned, this was going to be a long month, because even if he wasn't working on the project, he would have to look like he was in class.
