My back was against the comfortable mattress that was in mr room upstairs. I was wearing some pajama shorts and a Mickey mouse tank top. One leg was in the air while the other was bent.

"What? So you're dating George?" I said chewing my bottom lip. "Since when? Why didn't you tell me?"

She's been crushing on George for the longest time.

"Yup!" she said. "Can you believe it? I've had a crush on him since 7th grade. He asked me out today, and I said yes!" She chirped. She sounded so happy; I bet she was jumping on her bed.

I had a grin plastered in my face. Jennifer was an amazing best friend and deserved to be happy.

I got up from my bed and headed to the door. It was currently 9:30 pm., and I was alone at home.

Moving myself downstairs to the kitchen, I got a glass of orange juice. The juice refreshed my dried throat. I took three long gulps, before I said, "I'm really happy for you. So when is your first date? "

Before she could answer my question, I received a call. "Sorry, someone calling me. I'll talk to you later. You better tell me everything next time." I warned.

Hanging up, I answered the unknown number. "Hello."

"Are you the daughter of John Williams?" A female voice answered.

"Yes?" I said, slow not knowing where this was going on.

"Im calling from Jane Hospital. Is your mom there with you?" the lady asked.

I was a lost for words because the minute she said 'hospital', I knew something was wrong.
It felt like forever before I responded. "No."

The lady took deep breath. "I'm sorry to say this, but your father was in an car accident."

My breath caught on my throat. My mind couldn't, rather didn't want to, process the words the lady just said. But it's common to have an accident. Not everyone that gets involved in a car crash die. So I was praying, more like begging, for him to be fine.

"Is he ok?"

There was a long pause before she answered. "You have to come to the hospital."

Without a second to waist, I hung up and put my glass on the counter grabbing my coat along the way to the door. Struggling to find the car keys, I threw everything I found, paper, pens, photos, books. When I finally found the car keys, I ran to the car.

The ride to the hospital seemed eternal. The seconds seemed to become hours. It took everything I had to control myself. Streets, lights, and people were a blur to me.

I was in shock. There was only one thing on my mind.

Please let my dad be ok. Please.

When I finally arrived, I got out of my car and rushed to the front desk. A lady with a baby blue nurse outfit was the first person I saw.

"I'm here to see John Williams," I said out of breath.

The lady typed his name in the computer. "He's in the emergency room."

I left before she could even finish her sentence.

I got to talk to a doctor. "How's my dad?" Please say ok, please say ok, please say ok. I repeated over and over again. If I just recited the words then maybe everything would be ok.

The doctor was wearing a white lab coat. He was probably in his mid-forties, maybe even older. He looked tired, bags under his eyes. For some reason he looked like he was having a hard time trying to explain.
