Firestar: "But you fell behind just now, RiverClan too. We must stick closer together, at least while we're near Twolegs."
Blackstar: "Closer together, yes. But each Clan should follow its own leader's orders."

Firestar: "I couldn't."
Graystripe: "You could not risk the Clan by keeping them in the forest."

Surely it is our struggle against hardship that makes us true warriors. You think fresh blood in the Clans will weaken us? A life without hardship will weaken us more.

Firestar: "We're not cowards, but why should we fight pointless battles to prove it."
Firestar: "I know how you feel, Sandstorm. But that's not the best way to deal with this. I want to avoid bloodshed, if we can."
Sandstorm: "They're stealing our food!"
Firestar: "And we're not going to let them get away with it. But there's no point rushing into battle before we know what's going on."
Sandstorm: "Don't you fight anyone anymore?"
Firestar: "I'll fight if I have to! But I won't spill blood if reason can solve this problem."

Firestar: "They need me to fight."
Sandstorm: "But what will they do if you're killed?"
Firestar: "They'll fight harder. My warriors have only one life to lose and they are willing to give it up for their Clanmates. I'm no different. My place is beside them."
