Mom and Dad are at it again, I can hear their shouts through the paper like walls. I wish I could say this never happens, but it seems to get worse every night. I stay up in my room while they're down in the basement... Unfortunately, every word is still clear as day.
That's what they do, fight until their eyes are red. My father sleeps on the couch in the living room, and my mom sleeps in their room. He sneaks out every morning before I wake in the hope I don't notice... But I do.
I know how things sound but that's how it's always been, so that's what they do. They won't get a because it would ruin their already flawed image. I'm the youngest in my family, the fighting made my siblings leave. When my parents got together they already each had a son.
My mom's son is 17 years old; his name is Alex Parker. This upcoming school year he's going to be a Junior, he is involved in his academics, he joins everything he can. My dad's son is 16 years old; his name is Jason Hale. This upcoming school year he's going to be a Sophomore, he is completely opposite of Alex. He doesn't really care too much about his grades unless they get so low that he can't play. He plays every sport he can and is, for the most part, good at them.
I'm turning 15 towards the end of the summer, My name is Allison Hale; I'm involved in cheerleading, and dance. I dance at The Kayla J. Dance Company and cheer for The National All-Stars and will be cheering for our high school. I also am very dedicated to my grades and make sure that they don't depend on one test, like Jason does. My siblings and I will all go to the same high school.
When we were younger my brothers came over every other week. Back then I don't really remember a lot of fighting, but as we got older the fights got more noticeable. We didn't really talk about the fights, we all accepted the fact that it's how our family is. About three years ago was when Alex decided to live at his dad's house. He only comes over now every other weekend and on the holidays. Jason, on the other hand, stayed for me, we were always closer than me and Alex. His mom finally caught on to how bad things were a few months ago while he still comes over most days and spends the night when he can. He's always been the over protective brother, on many occasions my parents have up and left with almost no notice, he was the one to step up and take care of things. Though he isn't here as often he still calls to check up on me.
Today was the last day of baseball for Jason, tomorrow is our annual family trip to our vacation house in south Florida, expect my parents can't make it. And Alex has some science camp to go to, so my parents are letting Jason and I go with some of our friends. Jason is taking Chase, Drew, and Cole. While I'm taking Tessa, Kayla, and April. We live in Pittsburgh so it will take us about 15 hours to drive without stopping. We plan on taking two cars, with two guys and two girls in each car, because Jason doesn't want me and the girls to drive. We plan on being down there for about 3 weeks which means we will be there until after my birthday.
I'm finishing packing my bag when I'm pulled into a hug. " You should lock your door, you never know who could walk in," He says.
I know who it is immediately... Chase. "And you shouldn't be here," I respond and push him off me as I turn around.
"But I wanted to see you, and Jason told me to come over as soon as I was done getting ready and that he was going out with some of the guys and then is coming over. " he says and kisses my cheek.
Chase and I have been 'talking' for a few weeks. I plan on telling Jason as soon as I know whats going to happen for sure, but I need to handle this whole thing very carefully since they're friends. Chase is 16 and is a Sophomore like Jason. If Jason were to find out from someone that wasn't me I would be scared of his reaction. I know I have to decide what's going on fast because the longer I wait the worse the reaction will be.
