Chapter 4

Maxi P.O.V
I stuck my face in the water, and there I saw here, slowly sinking, drifting out to sea. I shot my head up and signalled to Harrison that this was going to be a resus, and that we needed the defib.

I dove into the water and swam down, she was so far away, but I kept pushing on. My lungs were screaming for air. Once I finally reached her, I grabbed her around the waist and swam back to the surface as fast as I possibly could. I grabbed my board and hoisted her up onto it. There was so much blood everywhere, I couldn't even tell at this point where it was all coming from.
I checked for a pulse. Nothing. I paddled to shore as fast as I possible could. This girl is dead, and the longer it takes to get to shore, her chances of survival gets drastically reduced.
Once my feet hit sand I lifted her up, she was light as a feather, and took her to where the other lifeguards where waiting. I started doing chest compressions, while they were bagging her, and setting up the defib. One, two, three, four, five... I counted out loud as I continued compressions, deep and fast. Finally the defib was ready, so we dried off her chest and attached the pads to her right shoulder and left side of her stomach.
We pressed the button
"Checking for pulse, do not touch the patient," came the automated voice," shock advised."
"Everybody clear!" I shouted and pressed the green button.
The shock made her body writher and twist about. After one shock, there was still no pulse so we had to give her a second shock. Once the machine said it was safe to touch the patient, I put my fingers to her neck and I felt a weak pulse. We continued to "breathe" for her as we waited for her to come around. She finally opened her eyes, they were a beautiful deep chocolate brown. The first thing that happened was she started throwing up the water she had swallowed, once that passed the first thing she said was "Thank you"
I asked her what her name was and her reply was "Kamri". Kamri. What a beautiful name from a beautiful girl.

I discovered Bondi rescue by watching it on Youtube! I wish they broadcasted it on the t.v but they unfortunately don't. That's ok, as long as I get to watch the Boys in Blue I'm a happy girl!~
