jacks pov
after sitting in one of the uncomfortable airport chairs for hours, i finally got on the plane.
i was sitting next to a really young girl. she couldn't have been older than 7.
her hair had been lulled into two small buns on each side of her head and a ribbon was tied neatly around each of them.
"hi." i said to her with a smile.
"hey." she said with a small smile.
"my names jack, whats yours ?" i asked her.
"im ember." she responded.
"so , why are you flying to California?" i asked her.
"im visiting my dad." she said , a huge smile on her face.
"im going home. i miss my parents and friends." i told her.

she smiled at me and looked back down at the book she had been reading.

i put im my headphones in and closed my eyes
"this flight should be easy." i said to myself.

braelynn's pov

after going to a few shops, my flight was called.

i got on the plane and sat new to a young girl a teenage boy.

the little girl looked at me and smiled.

"im ember." she said.

"im braelynn." i said, returning the smile.

"that's jack. he's asleep." she said while pointing to the boy in between us.

i looked at jack and smiled.

all his features were perfect.

"jack's pretty cute." i said to ember.

her smile widened and i could see that she was missing her two front teeth.

"can i tell you something?" she asked.

"sure." i said to her.

"jack's not really asleep." she whispered.

i looked at jack and saw a small smile fall across his face.

i couldn't help but smile and laugh a little.

Jack took out his headphones and locked eyes with me.

"braelynn? that's a pretty name." he said.

"my mom was very original."

ember leaned over and whispered something in jacks ear.
she sat back in her seat and stared at me with a smile on her face.
i looked at jack and furrowed my eyebrows.

"how come i cant hear the secret?" i asked with a pouty face.

"you can! just not yet."  ember said, putting emphasis on the "yet" .

"so, anyways. how do you two know each other?"  I asked jack and ember.

"we just met. jack's really nice." ember said, while looking at me and then back at jack.

jack smiled and i couldn't help but smile too.

"why are you guys going to California?" i asked.

"I'm seeing my dad for the first time in 2 years." ember said.

i raised my eyebrows and smiled.
"i bet that's exciting." i said.

"Yeah. I've missed him. my mom always says bad things about him, but i wanted to see him." she said , her smile fading.

"what about you, jack?"

"I'm going home. I came to New York with my best friend, but he left last night." jack said.

"what about you? why are you going to California?" i asked Braelynn.

"I'm going home. I travel a lot so i don't see my parents or brothers often. This will be the first time i've seen them all year." She answered.

"I hate traveling. I only agreed to come because my best friend , jack , wanted to go."

"you and your best friend have the same name?" ember asked with wide eyes.

"yeah. on the first day of kindergarten we wore the same shirt and we had the same name. we knew we were meant to be best friends."

"very romantic." Braelynn joked.

"it really was." i replied.

"so why do you hate traveling? i love it." Braelynn asked.

"something always goes wrong." i said while shrugging my shoulders.

"has anything gone wrong today?" She asked.

"actually , today's been pretty great."
