Author’s Note: Okay, so I’m terrible with remember dreams with exact detail, so I’ve refined the story a crap ton and added a beginning, middle, and end. The actual dream stuff will be indicated with a *** at the beginning and end of it. Please excuse the language, but those parts were actually said in my dream (just for the record). I hope you enjoy my messed up and crazy dream! –rac06h10ael

It was sixth period physical education. I walked out of the locker room dressed in the stupid black sport shorts and maroon colored t-shirt with the school’s logo printed across the chest that they called the gym uniform. I pulled my curly hair back into a ponytail, letting my straightened bangs sweep across my forehead.

Today’s lesson was supposed to be a surprise, but it was pretty obvious when I walked into the gymnasium. Some guys were practicing their pitch and some guys were throwing a ball up and down in the air while he talked to his buddies. Most of the girls, who happened to be popular and filled the entire girl attendance besides me, were sitting on the chairs that were set up for the senior’s graduation, gossiping with each other (probably about me) and looking pretty for the guys in the class. I rolled my eyes, dragged myself over, and sat down all by myself. I got a few nasty looks from the few girls who actually bothered to even look at me.

As I averted my gaze from them, I couldn’t help but notice the guy who walked in the door. He wasn’t wearing the gym uniform. But instead, he was wearing a black long-sleeve shirt, blue and black striped tie that was loosely on, black fishnet gloves that covered his hands, checkered suspenders that hung down on his thighs, a spiky bracelet that dangled on his wrist, guy liner, and he had blue extensions in his light brown hair. I’d seen him before; he was in most of my classes. In the halls, people usually shouted, “Hey, Switch!” before calling him a nasty name or throwing paper balls at him. So, I assumed his name was Switch. I wasn’t really friends with him, more like a person who didn’t bully him. So I think we’re on good terms. He walked over to the wall and leaned up against it with his hands crossed over his chest.

My coach walked in, cutting my not-on-purpose stare at Switch. He blew his whistle and ordered us to the center of the gym. Switch peeled himself off of the wall and I got up from the chair.

“Okay!” Coach unexcitedly exclaimed. “Today we will be playing baseball. Girls versus boys. Luckily, this is a small class, and we have the perfect amount of girls for one team. Now for the guys, there’s one too many.” He turned to face Switch. “Do you mind sitting out today?”

Switch rolled his eyes and dragged himself back to the wall.

“Okay,” The Coach continued, “Here’s the line up for girls: Becca, Vienna, Rachael…” Oh great, I thought, third person for the third strike, “…Dana, Maeve, Diana, Molly, Sara, and Chrissy.” The girls squealed in joy, “Boys will be: Pat, Jace, Dave, Jake, Ryan, Tim, Matt, Chris, and Anthony.” The guys high-fived each other as Coach told us guys were in the outfield and we girls were batting.

We lined up in order and began the game. Becca was looking at Pat who was at third base, and she struck out on every single ball that was thrown. When the umpire called her out, she dropped the bat and walked to the back of the line while twirling a piece of her naturally red hair around her finger. The same thing happened with Vienna, but she was staring at Matt.

***Oh shit, I was up. I picked up the bat and got into ready stance. The pitcher glared at me and I felt sick to my stomach. As soon as he threw the baseball, I swung the bat. It happened in slow motion for me. I head the crack of the ball hitting the bat, and then saw the baseball fly through the air. My once-in-a-lifetime victory was soon ruined, though, when Jake jumped in the air and caught the ball in his mitt. He smiled at me evilly as he held up his hand and the guys engulfed him in celebration.

I threw the bat on the ground and walked away from home plate, mouthing to myself, “Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck…”

I went into this full rage (I was a very sore loser). I remember I started flipping over the chairs and feeling my cheeks and ears burn up. I also remember seeing my parents (though they weren’t really there).

“Rach, you need to calm down.” My dad told me.

I don’t know exactly what happened, but I turned around and focused on Switch. Pat was approaching him.

“You know what you are?” Pat said, getting all up in Switch’s face. “You’re nothing but a gay, motherfucking faggot who’s emo.”

Switch pushed Pat away from him and fled the gym. The only sound that was made after his exit was the clinking of the ventilation system and the powering of the fans. The bell rang a few minutes later and we fled the gym.

After changing into my normal clothes, a white three-quarter sleeve and medium wash jeans, I looked for Switch in the halls. I found him all alone in a crowd of people. It was as if he was a repellent because everyone walked around him.

“Hey, Switch!” I shouted as I broke through the flood of people. He looked back, prepared to be bombarded by words or objects. When he saw me, though, his angry expression diffused into a look of confusion.

I dropped my bag, ran towards him, and hugged him tightly. I could tell he wasn’t expecting that because he was as stiff as a statue. “You’re perfect to me, Switch. Don’t listen to the douchebag.” I told him.

I stepped out of his embrace and watched him, waiting for his response.

“You really think that?” He asked.

I nodded my head yes.

After that, we kept our gaze with each other. So I did what I felt was right. I leaned towards him until our lips were pressed against each other. I closed my eyes and began to kiss him, and soon enough, he was kissing me back and I was pulling myself closer to him.***

At that moment, the world around me turned to black and I felt like he and I were the only ones there.

I pulled away from our kiss and everything came back into perspective. The students’ chatter sounded again and the oh so familiar florescent lights lighted the hallways. I smile at Switch before I hesitatingly turned around to go to my next class.

I picked my backpack up and slung it over my shoulder. I began to walk to the cafeteria, when I stopped in my tracks and looked back at him. He was still standing there, watching me as I walked away. I sighed and continued to going to lunch.
