-Beep, Beep, Beep-
The repeated blaring of the alarm beside the bed, awoke the pink hedgehog from her slumber.
-Beep, Beep, Beep-
She turned over and pulled a pillow over her small pink ears.
-Beep, Beep, Beep-
"Shut... Up...!" She moaned, with a mouth full of pillow.
"AMY!!! Shut that dam alarm off and get your lazy ass down here!" Yelled a deep voice from downstairs.
Amy grumbled as she turned over, and punched the alarm clock, as the pillow from her face fell to the floor. Amy slowly dragged herself into a sitting position, her blankets fall slowly, exposing her thin, peachy colored arms. She raised an arm, to rub her eyes groggily. She got up from her bed, and as her feet hit the cold hardwood floor, a shiver coursed through her thin body. Amy walked over to her window, and gently pulled open the curtain to allow the early morning light to shine into her bedroom, giving her soft violet walls a slight glow. Amy quickly got dressed and brushed her shoulder-length quills, and walked swiftly downstairs. As she reached the bottom of the stairs and into the doorway of the kitchen, she was greeted by and unpleasant, and annoyed face of a red hedgehog standing over the kitchen sink.
"Amy, what the hell is this?" The red hedgehog asked as Amy walked into the kitchen.
"What is what, Dad?" Amy asked, staring at her father.
"This," he said, pointing down to the sink that was overflowing with dirty dishes.
"Why aren't these clean?" He repeated himself.
"Dad, I told you lastnight that I wouldn't have time to do them because of the extra shift i took." Amy said sighing in exhaustion.
"Just because you work, doesn't mean you get away with not doing your jobs around the house." Her father growled, shooting a glare from his amber eyes.
"Can't you do them yourself?" Amy said without thinking. Oh no, I'm about to pay for that. Amy thought, panicking silently.
"What did you just say to me?" Her Dad growled through clenched teeth, as he slowly approached her.
"I-I'm sorry... I didn't m-mean," Amy stuttered, avoiding her father's burning amber gaze as he stood face-to-face with the smaller pink hedgehog.
"YOU HAVE RESPONSIBILITIES, AMY ROSE. I EXPECT THEM TO BE DONE WITHOUT QUESTION!" He yelled in Amy's small face, stepping back from her and raising a flexed hand.
In a flash his hand came down, leaving a burning mark on her face. Amy gritted her teeth, trying not to crack in front of her father.
"NOW I EXPECT THOSE DISHES TO BE DONE BEFORE YOU LEAVE FOR WORK. AND WHEN YOU GET BACK, I DON'T WANT ANY MORE OF YOUR ATTITUDE YOU LITTLE BITCH!" He screamed at the poor girl, as he grabbed her arm and roughly pushed her into the counter.
Amy inhaled sharply as she felt her hip pressed into the pointed corner of a drawer that had been left slightly ajar. Her father then abruptly turned and stomped upstairs to his room, slamming the door behind him.
Amy jumped at the sound of the door slamming. She then turned and took a deep, shuddering breath and let the warm tears trickle down her stinging cheek. Amy then turned to the sink and did as she was told, and began to wash the dishes...About twenty minutes later, Amy ran up to her bedroom. locking the door behind her, Amy collapsed onto her bed, sobbing.
"I don't understand why he has to be so aggressive and hurtful... I work my tail off and he can't give me a break for even a second..."
Amy sat up on her bed, her eyes drifted to her dresser. She reached over and picked up a small mirror, and began to examine the damage her father had inflicted upon her face. As she stared into the mirror at her tearstained face, she noticed the area where her father's hand had been, swelling into a deep purple. Amy winced at the sight and placed the mirror back onto her dresser. Amy quickly got up and pulled her white curtains closed, and pulled up her dress to look at the area where she had been impaled upon be the drawer. She noticed a deep purple, triangle-like bruise appearing in the spot. She gingerly let her dress fall back down into place and walked back to her bed, sitting beside her dresser again. On her dresser sat her alarm clock, next to it sat a picture frame. In the picture, a small pink hedgehog with emerald eyes sat in the arms of a beautiful white hedgehog with sapphire eyes.
They looked so happy together...
Amy sighed sadly. It had been nearly ten years since her mother had mysteriously died, therefore leaving Amy in the clutches of her hateful and abusive father.
She sighed again.
"Maybe one day, something will happen. One day, I will be free of this place and the dreaded memories created since the death of mother." Amy whispered to herself.
"Maybe one day, I will finally be strong enough to get back at my father for all the years of mistreatment i have endured!" The pink hedgehog gave a small smirk."Just maybe..."
