Cloudy skies and windy days were something I enjoyed. It set everyone into a different mood.
People are genuinely happy when it's sunny, and sad when it's cloudy; or the other way around. It all depends on the person.
Besides myself I had never met someone who had enjoyed days like. Only grumpy and upset people existed on these type of days.
I'd usually take walks, like I'm doing right now, just to think about anything troubling I've come across in my thoughts and try to fix it.
For example, my apartment. Rent payment is in a few weeks and I'm not even half way to having the right amount I need to pay the owner.
Either I could take extra shifts as the pet store, or get another job. Both sounded like too much, but I had to do something.
I'll just call Lindsay tomorrow to confirm I'd be taking extra shifts. Check, problem solved.
I watched as I entered the public park and saw few children playing in the grass, while couples were hand in hand walking around the pavement circle.
Off to the side, there was a large tree, sitting alone with a single bench underneath. I noticed someone occuping the bench, a newcomer I suppose.
I thought nothing of it and kept walking, doing my usual round about on the track.
A soccer ball rolled to my feet and I looked up, a teenaged boy about 15 running my way.
I rose my foot and kicked the ball in his direction. It passed him, making its way inside the net, confirming a goal. Hoots were made and I smiled brightly.
I bowed lightly, high fiving the teenage boy before continuing to walk. A sudden ring from my cell phone was made and I picked it up.
"Hello?"
"Renee! I'm glad you picked up! I was wondering if you'd be able to take care of the shifts for Casey? She's got the flu." Lindsay was the caller. I chuckled at the irony.
"What a coincidence; I was just about to call and ask for more shifts. Will I get paid double by any chance?" There was a laugh ringing from the other end, most likely hers, before she spoke again.
"Absolutely. Thank you very much! Have a good Sunday Renee, see you tomorrow." I ended the call and stuffed my phone inside my coat pocket.
The wind picked up, making my shiver and my hair whip around my face. Not an attractive sight I must imagine, I might as well be Medusa.
I was ending my walk around the track, nearing the tree with the bench underneath, noticing the man that was there before, was no longer to be found.
Must've left. I assumed and walked out of the park.
I passed by people that had the same expression as everyone; tired and mad. It was a terrible day for most, maybe they had to get up early or their morning was messed up.
For me it was glorious. I woke up later in the morning, had coffee, looked out the window at the cloudy day, put my coat on and you know the rest.
I went inside the cafe on the corner of the street and was hit with a wave of coffee beans and freshly baked goods. Personally my favourite smells.
I ordered my second coffee for the day and a muffin before choosing a booth on the side near the larder window and sitting down.
I watched people walk by and not even glance in the direction of the window. Some did and gave me a dirty look; but some even smiled. Those were the good people.
My order came to me and was placed infront of me. I thanked the waiter and took a sip of my coffee. Taking a bite out of my muffin I smiled in satisfaction.
I heard the bell on the door ring but payed no attention to it as I continued to watch the outside.
I felt someone behind me and turned, only to look up at a stranger looking down at me. His expression had a bit or worry, along with a hint of anger.
I realized he hadn't said a word making the situation even more awkward. So I spoke up.
"Can I help you?"
It seemed like he came back to reality as he blinked a couple times. I rose an eyebrow at him and awaited his answer.
"My uh notebook. Beside you." His accent laced in his voice and he pointed lazily at the black book at my side.
I hadn't even noticed it was there until he told me. I picked it up and held it his way. He snatched it from my hands and began walking away, then he stopped abruptly.
"You didn't look through it did you?" He scratched the back of his neck as he took a few more steps back towards me.
I shook my head, " I hadn't even noticed it was there." He looked uncertain, be seemed like he chose to take my word on it and walked away.
I watched him leave, his brown curls bounce around his shoulders as he left the cafe and walked down the street. He was strangely attractive but something I mustn't dwell on since it was likely I wouldn't see him again.
I looked down at my empty coffee cup, and saw a little note at the bottom of the cup.
From a distance I saw you, such an interesting sight. But a closer look I was intrigued.

The first chapter of my first book! Ahhh! It's short I'm sorry but the other chapters should be longer.
