(Y/N) was walking through the halls of the DWMA, trying to avoid running into people. She was the quiet, 'I don't have any friends' type. She quickly stood against the nearest wall to avoid having Black Star run over her again. She really didn't like that guy. Of course she had to be grateful for everything she had. (Y/N) scurried among the students to get to class. She saw what happened to those who were late. 5 minutes later and she was in the classroom... which was completely devoid of students....? She walked over to her teacher's desk and tried to ask about the mass vacancy.
"U-Um.... S-Sir? May I ask you a question?" She could hardly whisper.
"You need to be asking many questions," the teacher looked up, "but what do you want?"
"U-Um... W-Where are all the other students?"
"You're here 2 hours early."
"B-But the students in the hall! And Black Star!-"
"You were imagining things."
"Huh?"
"Go. Look in the hall." (Y/N) walked to the doors of the classroom and peeked out.
"What?!"
"You might as well stay and study or something. I don't care." What kind of teacher doesn't care about what his students do? Professor Franken Stein.
"Y-Yes Sir." (Y/N) Rushed up to her seat and pulled out the necessary materials for the day. She studied.... At least she tried to. (Y/N) couldn't make sense of the words. "P-Professor Stein? Could you help me study? I-I don't understand this." He sighed and stood.
"What is it?" She pointed to the cover of the text book. 'Souls and Their Aspects: The Mobility'
"I-I don't understand the topic, Sir. I'm sorry."
"I see." He studied her soul. Radiated power, but lacked everything to unleash it. Shyness and meekness were her main traits. "Well. Let's start on where we are now, so at least that way you can try to keep up." She nodded. They spent a half hour just working on the current subject: The soul's attributes. "What's your name?"
"H-Huh? O-Oh! It's (L/N). (Y/N) (L/N)."
"(L/N) (L/N)... Oh. The one who's failing everything."
"I-I'm sorry. I'm so stupid."
"Why? Why are you stupid?"
"I ask myself that all the time, but the only answer I get is silence. So I'm sorry, but I don't know why I'm so dumb."
"You're even more apologetic than Tsubaki."
"Black Star's partner?"
"Yes, her. Now back to studying."
-------------------------------------- Ding Dong
--------------------------------------"Alright, today class, we're unfortunately not going to do a dissection. Instead, you will be fighting each other. The point of this is to be able to read your opponents patterns; to figure out their technique." The students and teacher went to the forest behind the DWMA. Bit of a walk, but it was a good training area. "Right, groups... Uh.. Maka, Soul? You against Black Star and Tsubaki. Kilik? You guys against Havar and his. Ox, you against Kid... And the rest of you... I don't care. You need me, I'll be walking around." The class groaned and spread out to find appropriate dueling spots. (Y/N) hung back as students left to fight. Shortly after, she walked around watching the brawls. Once she figured out the fighting styles, she moved on. Eventually (Y/N) bumped into Stein,
"I-I'm sorry! I didn't mean to run into you Sir!"
"(L/N)? Why aren't you fighting? Figuring out fight routines or whatever?"
"Everybody was taken before I could find some one," lie, "and I figured out quite a bit of fighting styles already."
"Oh really?"
"Y-Yes Sir."
"I see. Have you done Maka and Black Star yet?"
"Yes Sir."
"Tell me Maka's technique, then."
"Y-Yes. Um... She seems to like having her opponents at a slight distance before moving forward a little to swing her scythe, cutting her opponents' mid-section."
"Good! You actually know something! It was a compliment. Now, her style of blocking."
"Maka uses the staff of the scythe block close-up attacks."
"And distanced attacks?"
"She simply runs from those."
"Good. Now lets go check on them." The teacher and student trekked to where Maka and Black Star were fighting. They hadn't stopped yet.
"Wow. Maka Albarn hasn't figured out Black Star's attack strategy?!"
"Black Star's soul is difficult to grasp and is unpredictable to those who aren't fully trained. It's really quite easy though. Just go for his head." Stein ended in a whisper.
"R-Really?"(Y/N) whispered back as to not distract the teams from their fights.
"Really. They're all so simple minded. It's difficult, really."
"How so?"
"Try putting up with about 30 Black Stars, 2 or 3 Makas, and a bunch of average students."
"Th-that sounds really hard." She hesitantly reached out a hand and slowly patted his back.
"What are you doing, (L/N)?"
"U-Uh! S-Sorry P-P-Professor! I saw this gesture as a c-comforting... Motion... Thing... Sorry."
"Oh." (Y/N) stayed quiet. "Since you aren't dueling, why don't you fight me?" She looked at him frightened.
"F-Fight you?! I-I can't do that!"
"Why not?"
"B-Because... Because you're Professor Stein! You're infamous! I wouldn't last 3 seconds against you!"
"True, but why not try?"
"I-I... Yes Professor." They walked away from the other students' dueling spots to find their own.
"Here should be good."
"Y-Yes Sir." They stood at opposite ends of clearing and moved into fighting stances.
"Ready? Begin." He ran towards (Y/N). She squeaked in surprise and threw herself to the right, she barely missed the attack. "Look at that. You lasted more than 3 seconds. Congratulations." He was mocking her? Really? (Y/N) looked at her teacher in shock and realization. "Pay attention!"
"Ah!" (Y/N) scurried(more like crawled very quickly) away from the professor. "I can't keep dodging, but I don't know how to attack! Ah!" She got hit with Soul Force as she was muttering to herself.
"I said: Pay attention!"
"S-Sorry!" She ran towards him in thin determination. He looked at slightly shocked, but made no move to stop her. Instead, he let (Y/N) punch him in the stomach. He was surprised to feel something warm streaming from the corners of his mouth. He reached up and touched it. Blood. Some weak girl caused damage to him like two star meister could. He looked at said weak girl to see her backing away slowly in fear. "I-I'm sorry! I didn't mean to! Please forgive me!" Professor Stein just laughed. He laughed and laughed. He did so quite loudly and caused the pairs of students to look in their direction. (Y/N) was still backing away. When his laughter died down, he looked over to his opponent and sighed.
"You did pretty well. Have you ever been in a fight before? A punch like that must have had training."
"N-No Sir. I haven't. This was my first one."
"That's surprising. Maka! Look at her soul!"
"Yes Sir." (Y/N) felt a small tingling sensation in her chest and looked behind her. "S-Sir. Her soul, it's..."
"It's?"
"It's so meek and small, but there's so much power! I don't think even Kid has this much!"
"HAHA! Well she doesn't have more than me! AH-HAHAHAH-"
"Maka Chop!"
"-OW!"
"That's the end of the lesson. Class dismissed."
