Chapter 3
Ella's (P.O.V)
Ugh! I know I really should have went to the library. I could have even stayed at camp. I'm sure my sister's friend ,Will, would've been more than happy to practice archery with me. Although Amber is the more athletic one, I'm great at combat sports (weird, right?), such as archery and sword fighting, like my older sister and mom. Our brothers like soccer though, too.
Finally, the tryouts are over! All of the girls that are competing for spots on the single team are off to the showers.
"Chase 2!" the coach 'says'. (since his normal voice sounds like a freight train, my mom probably heard him all the way in Greece) I practically hide underneath the bleacher I am seated on. I really don't like how my sisters, brothers, and I are labeled Chase 1-5, since he doesn't bother to know any of our names, except for Annabeth's because she is the oldest.
I peek out, and see the large man walking towards my spot. Suddenly, I pop up, so I won't embarrass myself more than I already have. "How's your sister, cupcake?" Coach Hedge asks. Phew! He's finally gotten past trying to make me participate in sports activities.
"Annabeth is great, Coach Hedge! She is sad to be leaving camp for the summer again though." I respond.
"Great, Chase. See you next week in P.E.!" Coach says and walks away. I sigh with relief when he left. That guy makes me really nervous.
I am not looking forward to next week. I have to go back to Half-blood Junior High to finish my last year there. I don't have any friends in my grade, but at camp, I can hang out with my sisters and their friends. Because my best friends, Amber and Ocean, are a grade younger than me, I won't see them a lot in school.
That isn't even the worst part of going back to school. When school starts, the bullying starts. I'm not a bullying target, but in middle school, it's hard to avoid it. Amber and Ocean don't understand yet, because HJH starts in seventh grade.
But, I don't want to think about school, yet. I have one week left of summer, and I am going to enjoy it! I just hope Amber and Ocean make the team.
Ocean's (P.O.V)
I thankfully was able to avoid Kiera on my way back from the showers. Although, the was no way I could avoid Amber and her questions.
"Ocean?" Amber asked.
"Yeah?" I responded as I tied my blue sneakers.
"What did...." she stops suddenly and we watch as Kiera and her posse walk by.
"Meet you on the field, girls!" Kiera says and waves. Her friends laugh.
"We are going to talk about this later." Amber says through gritted teeth. I roll my eyes. We then walk to the field. When we get there, we wave to Ella in the stands, then get in line with the other girls.
"Listen up Cupcakes!" announced Coach Hedge once everyone from tryouts was there. "We all know that due to the lack of girls interested in trying out, there will be only one team this year. So, now it is time to announce who's made the team." Ella looks up and gives us a thumbs up from the bleachers. Coach Hedge looks down at his clipboard. " Azalea and Absinthe McBay, Bella Rose Gardener, Becca Charles, Katie Stewart, Lillian Gradinski, McKeyla Kyle, Maggie Luke, Caspia Edmund, Georgie Fade, Lucy Aster, Keaton Walsh, Laura Queton, Amber Chase, and OceanBreeze Jackson." Coach read off the list. I'm so happy that Amber and I made the team, and the look on Kiera's face was priceless. "Congrats to those who made the team, and good luck next year for the rest of you."
Annabeth's (P.O.V)
Percy and I hopped in his car, and headed off to the mall. The car ride was filled with conversation about the upcoming school year.
"So, are you excited for school, Wise Girl?" my boyfriend asks.
"You know I am, but I can't help but feel nervous."
"Why?"
"Since next year is our last year at Half-blood High, there will be a lot of pressure this year about college. What if we don't get into good schools? What if we go to schools in different states? Different countries even?"
"Annabeth, calm down! Everything will be okay. There isn't the smallest chance that you won't get into wherever you want to go. And I'll go wherever you go."
"Thanks, Seaweed Brain...." I say quietly.
"Is Ella nervous for her graduation?" Percy asks.
"Yeah. I'm really worried about her. She doesn't really have any friends, except for Ocean and Amber."
"She'll be fine. She's a Chase. All you Chases are tough." he says jokingly trying to lighten the mood.
"You're such a dork." I say laughing. A few minutes later we arrived at the mall, and headed to our destination.
When Percy and I got back from the Disney Store, we headed to his cabin. He seemed very pleased with his new stuffed Nemo, and Ariel doll. Percy picked up his Ariel doll, and moved it back and forth while singing "Sha la la la my oh my" over and over. I stand up off his bed and ruffle his black hair.
"Just kiss the girl already, Jackson." I say. He winks at me, pulls me down and presses his lips against mine. When I pull away, Percy looks at me, closes his eyes and sighs.
"Now," he said "we are going to watch Nemo, and you won't fall asleep this time." I cuddled up next to Percy on his bed, and fell asleep a half hour later, despite his wishes.
Jason P.O.V.
I am sitting on the couch playing on my PlayStation when I hear a knock on the door. I put down the controller, and swing my body over the couch. When I get to the door, I look through the peep-hole, and see Reyna, one of my best friends and fellow student council officer. I then open the door.
"Hey Reyna." I say greeting her.
"I won't be long Jason, seeing as you have the date with that Half-blood Hell-hound that you told me about."
"Okayyyy."
"I think you are making a bad decision."
"You tell me that a lot. Be a little more specific."
"With your so-called girlfriend."
"You mean Piper, my actual girlfriend."
"If she's your actual girlfriend, why do only ten people know about your relationship."
"Uh.." I am at a loss for words. Reyna would be to happy if I told her that I was the one that wanted to keep the relationship a secret.
"Exactly! You don't know what you want, Grace!"
"But you do?" I say sarcastically.
"Yes!" she says to my surprise. "We want the same thing, Jason.
"And what would that be?"
"Success!"
"Everyone want to be successful, Reyna."
"Yes, but we want great success possible for our school, for ourselves."
"And me dating Piper effects that?"
"Yes! It gives Jupiter Academy a bad name. Why would you want to be associated with hellhounds. We are Praetors!"
"I guess you're right..."
"I knew you'd understand." Reyna stands on her toes and kisses my cheek. As she walks down the path that leads to the street she calls "See you later, Jason! Oh, and break up with that Piper girl!"
"Okay....." I mutter to myself. Then, I get slapped in the face.
** Sorry we didn't update for a while hopefully we will be able to update soon. We hope you've enjoyed the update. Have a great rest of the summer! And to be clear the Praetors is Jupiter Academy's mascot, and the Hell hounds are Camp Half-Blood High's. **
