Chapter one: intro

Bruce is probably one of the most serious people you could ever meet. Yet his soulmate has the form of a 17 year old girl. Not that anyone knows that.
People like Bruce tend to keep their souls a secret.
Your soul can either be your strongest card or your biggest weakness. Hence why people don't like to talk very much about them.

You are either born with your soul "detached", or you can detach it, yourself. You can, of course, also be born normal. Only very strong humans can detach their souls from themselves. If you can even call them humans. A detaching craves the ultimate sacrifice. But Bruce wouldn't tell what that is. With a de-soul, as some likes to call them, the ability to see other souls follows. Luckily the kind of people, like Bruce, are dwindling into a number of single digits. There aren't many left of the likes of Bruce. Which means less people to hide from. Or less people who can help you, when in need. That's why they keep to themselves.

Normally, you either notice that your soul is detached early on, around birth, which results in the soul and body aging at same speed. Others, as mention before, never even notice. That has only happened on rare occasions. And then there's the likes of Caroline. She detached from Bruce when he was 21. Imagine that, waking up with a tiny baby, lying helpless besides you, only to later find out that it's a part of you. He basically had to raise a child. Who doesn't need feeding, he just have to feed himself.

She is what he is. She feels, what he feels. And that's how it works.
