I go to Lincoln Bay High, a school for shifters and humans. We all get along well, but sometimes we have to keep our temper low.

My best friend, Taylor McCoy, is a human. She was the first person to speak to me my freshmen year when everyone looked at my like a monster. Back then, shifters were just opening up to the human world and weren't acknowledged well. But Taylor saw something different in me no one else had. Every since then, we've become really close.

I was pulling up to the school when I heard Taylor call my name. "Hey Tay, good morning." She ran over to me gripping me like she hasn't seen me in weeks...it's only been a couple days.

"Uumph! Wow you surely missed me didn't you?" I said gladly. "What? Aren't you excited?!" She said as she let go of me and looked at me we with a bug grin on her face. I was confused, "About what?" She lost her grin. "About today silly. Today is a special day. You know....with your transition and all."

She was excited because of that?! "Taylor, I'm not gonna find him anytime soon. Besides, I don't even know if he goes to this school." I've never lied to Taylor. She knew everything about me and enough about shifters that was safe. I was happy but I wasn't looking forward to scavenging for my mate. He'll show when he shows.

The first bell rang for homeroom and I quickly locked up my car and ran to class. I was not gonna be late for chemistry. Me and Taylor had a plan to graduate and become millionaires. Lord knows that's not gonna happen, but that doesn't mean we can't have hope right?

I was walking into class when I felt a pair of eyes burning a whole into my head. I looked around but didn't see anyone. Weird. Its maybe just my shifter instincts messing with me. Transitioning can do that to you.

After math, me and Taylor left to go get some lunch from the Redfox Buffet. We loved going to this place every day for lunch. When I first ate one of their Bacon lovers Burger, I swear I fell in love.

We picked up our food and headed back to school. I pulled up in the drive way when Taylor nudged my arm. "Looks like you've got an admirer," she whispered to me eyeing my window. I turn to where she's glancing, only to find a pair of silver gray eyes staring back at me.

"Do you know him?" I ask. Taylor shruggs her shoulders, "Never seen him before in my life. But one thing is for sure...he's eyeing you like a piece of meat and it's freaking me out." "Don't worry I'm sure it's no-" I stopped when I noticed he was gone from his spot. Where the hell did he go?!
