I saw him when they called us in for morning recess. He was new, he had this new kid attitude, not shy, but he didn't look "in place" I was walking with Alex , my best friend that's a boy when he came up behind me.
"I like annoying little kids!" He had screamed in my ear. I just rolled my eyes. I was in 7th grade. I'm pretty sure even now, to an 8th grader I'm not a "little kid" when he turned around, I saw him. He had strawberry blonde hair, kind of spiky but not like a Mohawk. Just that spiky tip at the end. He was smiling and he had the CUTEST smile ever. He had a mouth full of braces. But I think that just made it better.Later on I had gone and told my friends Cadence, and Daisy about him. I didn't like him at that point but I thought he was cute. Daisy had said she heard about a new kid but it turns out there was another one named Zack. Later that day during History Cadence, Daisy, and I had gone out into the hallway to "do work". The boy had walked by us once while we were doing math. He took a long look at us and kept walking.
"Is that him??" Daisy asked
"Yeah" I had smiled.
Then coming back he stopped and walked and just walked oh so slooooowwwwllllyyyyy past us.
"What the hell?" Daisy said
Cadence laughed and said "Do you think he likes any of us?"
Um yeah. Probably not..... Doubt it. We kept talking and he soon walked passed us again! Like, dude. Why?The next few days were a blur. I kept seeing him in the hallways. On Thursday I finally found out his name.
"Yo Caleb!" One of his friends, Andrew had called to him.
His name was Caleb. I liked it a lot. On the day before Halloween I had baked cupcakes, they were disgusting but I baked them so that's what counted. Daisy and Cadence were going to sleep over. We were waiting in line for my dad to pick us up.
"Hey can I have a cupcake??" Some kid asked me. I guess at my school the kids are like animals looking for scraps. At one point I had passed Caleb and that's when I talked to him.
"Can I have a cupcake?" He asked. His voice or the way he talked made me feel warm inside.
"No." I said that too quickly. I should've given him one.
