"Up, up up!" Ordered Ronin. I climbed out of bed and stood in my stance that I stood in for military school.
"Sir yes sir!" I yelled. Ronin looked at me funny. "Sir, is there a problem, sir?!" I yelled.
"Why are you doing that?"
"It's what I did for military school." I said. I noticed Nod was still asleep. "Get up." I said. He moaned. "Please?" I asked. He moaned some more. "Come on lazy bones, up." I said. He moaned again then sat up. He had messy hair and looked really really tired.
"It's so early." He whined.
"You have training Nod." Said Ronin.
"I'm not very happy with you Ronin." Nod said.
"I was just telling you the truth." He said.
"No, not about that. You were being VERY rude to me in my dream. You ate my hand." He said sadly.
"Get dressed." Said Ronin. He left the room. Nod layed back again.
"Morning." He said.
"Get up." I said.
"I don't wanna." He whined as he turned over onto his tummy.
"Come on! I'm excited." I said.
He sat up and curled his upper lip a little. "You're excited to become a leafman?" He asked.
"Yes! I wanna use a sword and stuff! I wanna be awesome and fight the bad guys!" I said.
"The bad guys are called Boggans. And they try to destroy the forest. But the first thing we have to do is get you fitted for a uniform. Then we get your weapons. Then you get your bird. Then we train you for about a week then you can go into combat." He said.
"Well I used to be a fencer. Do you have fencing here?" I asked.
"Yeah. How long did you fence?" He asked.
"Ten years." I said. "I also dance."
"So you started when you were seven?" He asked.
"Yep, same with dancing." I said.
"Okay so we might not need to train you as long as we thought." He said. He layed back again.
"You need to get up." I said.
"What time is it?" He asked.
"Seven thirty two." I said.
"Training starts at ten. We've got time." He said. He patted the spot next to him.
I sat down. "Lay down." He said as he slid towards the wall to make room for me.
I layed down. He put his arm around me and pulled me closer to him. I gently put my hand on his chest. He kissed my forehead.
We just layed there talking and laughing. Mostly laughing. Then Ronin walked in. "Why aren't you dressed Nod?" He asked. He got up and put on a shirt.
"Happy?" He said.
"I guess. Now come on you two. Breakfasts ready." He said.
"I'll be there in a minute." I said. Ronin walked out with Nod behind him. Nod turned around.
"Are you okay?" He asked.
"Yeah." I said as I rubbed my arm.
"Are you sure?" He asked.
"Yes." I said.
"Okay..." He walked away. I changed into my ripped up black capri's and blue hoodie. I tied my converse and looked in the mirror. I hung my head and walked out and sat down at the table. Nod was pigging out like any teenage boy, Ronin had finished eating already.
I sat down and quietly ate my breakfast. Then we flew to practice.
"C'mon, lets get you a uniform." Said Nod as he guided me to a room full of green armor. He handed me the smallest uniform they had. "Here, put this on over your clothes." He said. I put on the armor and was surprised at how light it actually was. "Awesome." He smiled.
"So, fencing huh?" I nodded. He tossed me a sword which I caught with one hand. "Nice reflexes." He smirked.
"Thanks." I said.
"Alright babe, show me what you've got." He said as he grabbed another sword. I unsheathed my sword as he came at me. If I was taught one thing at fencing school, it was never back away. I came back at him, slashing at him and then he hit a wall. I held the sword against his neck.
"Nice." He breathed.
"I know." I huffed.
I strapped the sheath to my belt and sheathed it again. "You wanna try archery?" Asked Nod.
"Shoot yeah." I smiled.
