I had told them my plans for tomorrow and cancelled our get together the next day.
I woke up the next day getting a message from Kris.
"What time are you coming?"
"I'll be there in 15 minutes"
"Okay, see you then."
I had picked up Kris from her house and we drove together to the campus. We met up with Kate and Derrick to spend some time during the dame. We ate at this nearby restaurant before going to our study session with our classmates.
It was only an hour left till I had to meet up with Alice for this meeting. So I left my friends early to grab a snack before seeing Alice. The hall was only two buildings away, so it wasn't that hard to find.
Fifteen minutes till the meeting starts, so I headed for the hall and the room.
Once I got there, I wasn't sure what to look for so I waited for Alice in the lobby. She was running a little late from work. Soon enough, she came through the doors running and apologizing for being late.
"It's fine. You look really tired."
"Yea a bit, but I can't wait for this meeting. It'll be our last one before the semesters end."
"Nice, well thanks for inviting me." We headed for the room where the meeting was. A student asked for my name and gave me a nametag. Alice introduced me to everyone she knew, and they seemed all friendly. They had a program and mini-events for the meeting and food at the end of the agenda. Surprisingly, I met a few old friends from elementary and high school. Even some from my Communications class.
Some of her friends noticed us talking and interrogated me.
"So how do you know Alice?"
"We actually just met yesterday"
"Is that so?"
"Oh you know the story already Elizabeth" Alice said.
"Yea, but I want to hear it from his side."
I laughed at the fact that she had already told them what happened. So I entertained their antics and humored them with my side of the story.
"Aww that's so cute, you're pretty bold to do something like that." Elizabeth commented.
I smiled and looked towards Alice. "So can I see that flower you made?" Elizabeth eagerly asked. Alice stood up and pulled the unfolded lotus from her pocket. I laughed at what I saw.
"I'm sorry! I thought there was more inside."
"Haha, awww Alice, you had something nice he made, and you go and ruin it. But mister, you better treat her good."
"Oh stop it, we just met.
I had short conversations with them, but focused with Alice since I was her guest. We had many topics to talk about and it just felt natural. She's a Junior studying Communications and Japanese. We talked throughout the meeting and a game involved the whole group to join.
We were divided into four groups in making sandwiches for a community service project. I decided to be the one to pack the sandwiches into the bags while the rest of the team assembled the sandwiches.
In half an hour, we managed to make 28 sandwiches while another group made the same amount. But the head of the club chose our group since it was the neat and cleaner. Our prize was first chance at the food.
I grabbed a few snacks and headed back towards Alice. She was in the other team that made the same amount of sandwiches. We joked and bantered at our groups and what went wrong.
The meeting and events lasted for two hours, and it was time for us to leave. Alice still had practice with her group for a music event.
"I'm really glad to have officially met you."
"Likewise too, thank you for coming."
"Well will I get to see you again?"
"I'd like that."
We hugged and I said my goodbyes to her friends. I could see them smiling wide at me. I looked over to Alice and her smile was the last thing imprinted on me.
I got to my car and a message popped up on my phone:
"Call me when you get home?"
"Of course."
