Hey guys. So this is my first story on wattpad. I have kind of had this in my head for a while now, but I haven’t figured out the end yet, so we are hurdling into the unknown together here. Please vote, comment and fan. I have no idea what to do for a cover, so I will host a contest. Whoever creates what I believe to be the best cover, gets to 1) get the rest of the book dedicated to them 2) me fanning them and 3) I will promote you and your works on here. Also, suggestions for a cast are also welcome, because I am not very up-to-date as far as celebrities. I will also write an epilogue if I get enough people wanting me to. Hope you like it! (A/N sorry, that one was kind of long :/ )

Contest is now closed. IAmAPandaHearMeRoar won.

Chapter 1: A New Beginning

I stretched as my alarm went off. Then I slid out of bed and mussed up my hair, finally summoning up the will to get ready for my first day of high school. I snapped awake. My first day of high school! Reaching out, I grabbed my alarm clock and kissed it, glad that my birthday present worked. Spinning around I thought, What am I going to wear?!?

Turning for my closet, I immediately fell flat on my face. I had forgotten to set down my alarm clock, and had tripped over the cord. Rubbing my nose I set the clock back in its place, glaring at it. I knew it was too good to be true. My philosophy is that if everything is going great, you've obviously overlooked something. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not depressed or anything, reality just hits me more than most people.

I checked my mirror to see if my nose was going to bruise or anything. Touching it gingerly I grinned. It seemed to be ok, at least for now. I looked at my emerald green eyes; honey colored hair, and full lips. My figure was ok, I guess. I was comfortable with it any way. My height was average with curves in all of the right places, and I wasn't super pale or anything. I turned back toward my closet.

There was a dark red shirt with a black belt to go under my bust, and  then I paired it in with a pair of skinny jeans and knee-high black boots and black dangly earrings. I kept my makeup simple with some black eyeliner to make my eyes pop and some blood red lipstick to match the blouse. Taking a deep breath, I readied myself for a new year.

"Driana! Get down here! I gotta go to work and won't be home early enough to see you later!"

"Kay, Mom!" My mother is a work-aholic. It has its perks I suppose. I mean, we have a nice house and great food and clothes, but I don't exactly see her very much. My dad goes on mission trips to Africa all the time, so I pretty much live by myself.

I dashed down the stairs, finding Mom waiting with warm chocolate chip pancakes on the table. Yum! She is the best cook ever. I am above average, but she could have been a master chef in France or something.

We hugged. She smelled nice, like vanilla.

     "Thanks Mom!"

"You're welcome sweetie, now I've gotta go, but I'll see you tomorrow," she answered, kissing the top of my head.

     "Kay, Love You."

"You too." I heard her get into her yellow mustang and back down the drive. Sighing, I thought Alone again. I devoured the pancakes after smothering them in powdered sugar and whip cream. Then I grabbed my keys and my bag, locking the door after me. I hopped in my gold Plymouth, another birthday present after receiving my license.

I just sat there for a moment, savoring the new car smell. Starting her up, I smiled when she gave me a satisfying purr. I glanced at the clock as I pulled out. Crud! I'm gonna be late! Flying out of the driveway, I was glad that not very many people were awake on my street yet. Taking my hair in my left hand I pulled it out of its french braid. I had put it up last night so it would be wavy this morning.

When I parked in front of the school I looked at the clock again. 8:15. Five minutes to spare. I let out a breath. Putting my permit on the rearview mirror, i reached back for my bag. I yanked it out, and started for the school.

I saw my best friend, Ester, a few feet ahead of me. Catching up with her, I put  my hands over her eyes.

     "Guess who?" I squealed.

"Driana!" She turned around, giving me a hug. We talked about our summers. She had spent hers in Florida with her dad, so I didn’t get to see her.

"So, did you meet any cute boys?"

     "Yeah...."

     "And!"

"Well, you know how Dad is, he scared them all off." I started walking away.

     "Where are you going?"

     "To school.”

     "Not without me!"

"I can’t be trying to get guys with a girl who is out of practice!"

"I’m not out of practice! Besides, I have always been the better flirt and you know it. You’re just jealous!"

"I'm not jealous, and if you didn’t have any real guys to practice on, what did you do? Flirt with Danny's picture?"

"How did you guess?" We burst out laughing.

"How did you get here anyway?" she asked.

     "What do ya mean?"

"Well, I was waiting for you, but you didn’t get off the bus and your mom didn’t drop you off like she sometimes does."

     "I drove."

"Oh, ok." Staying silent, I waited for it to sink in.

"Wait, what! You got your license while I was gone? No fair!"

"One of the downsides of being in Florida I suppose." I said, smirking.

"Well, I never!" she said, flipping her dark hair behind her and glaring at me playfully, "You didn’t tell me!" She winked one of her blue eyes.

     "Come on."

     "What?"

"You want to see it don’t you?"

     "You already have a car?!?"

"Yup." I said, popping the p.

"Let's go see!" she started dragging me along until we got in front of the parking lot.

"So, which one is it?" I responded by clicking my remote, locking the car and making it beep and light up.

"Oooooh! I love gold!" she squealed. She hugged me "Congrats Driana!" I laughed at her. She drove me nuts sometimes, but she was all the better for it.

“But, I am afraid that you must be punished for not telling me!"

Bowing, I said, "Anything you say, your majesty." She giggled, and then put on a straight face.

"I order you to drive me to and from school each day, that I may share in the glory."

     "Of course!"

"Yay!" she said, clapping her hands. I rolled my eyes. Talk about switch of character. I checked my watch. Dang!

     "We only have 2 minutes!"

"What!" we ran for the doors, trying not to drop our bags or trip in our ridiculously high heels. We walked into the auditorium barely on time, ready to begin our freshman year. I took a deep breath as I sat down. Another year of school.

Suddenly, I felt the atmosphere change in the room. Everything felt heavy and dreary. I began to dread what was going to happen next. Weird. I was oober excited just a minute ago! Then he stepped on the stage...
