As Reed and I walked through the gates of Hell...wait, that's not right..
As Reed and I walked through the gates of Heavenly Fields, that's better, we were handed three things.
- A uniform, consisting of a black shirt, black pants and black combat boots.
- A canteen
- A backpack with some gear.
I looked in the backpack and pulled out a small pocket knife. Awesome. Back home I had a knife collection, knives from all sorts of times, but this pocket knife I didn't have. It's too nice of a knife for someone of my status to be able to get ahold of. When my sentence is up...and I get out of here alive, I'm keeping this damn pocket knife.
We were escorted into a plain room. White walls, white tile, white desk, white everything.
Back home my room was a blue color, well, it use to be blue, so I'm told, it's covered in grime now. Surprisingly, I miss home, maybe I should go visit...
As I was lost in thought, there was this constant nagging, annoying noise.
"Ms. Arnou." A stern sounding woman grumbled, "Ms. Arnou are you listening?"
"Sorry, honey, what was it you were saying?" I smirked. You'd think I'd be more respectful to people in a higher class than I, but I frankly don't give a rats ass.
"Well, I was just saying to Mr. Murphy here," honey was practically undressing Reed, "that The Field, will take the evil out of even the cruelest, nastiest, criminals, like yourself." Honey glared at me.
It was self-defense.
"In The Field, your mental and emotional health will be tested, but when your sentence is up, you will come out a saint. No longer a sinner. You will see Heaven, and God's great light." She smiled at Reed, and tried hard to smile at me.
"Now, both of your sentences are a year long, making you partners. Some things you should know before going in. The tall grass will swallow you, like quicksand, And all the trees but the big oaks will snap your necks, without a second thought, so watch your neck" Honey, who's name tag said Debbie. "Any questions?"
"Yeah, what is safe?" Reed squeaked. What a baby
"Everything, but the tall grass, and trees, the only safe trees are the oak trees" Debbie smiled.
"So, the field. It's basically like living near the swamps. Low lifers like me." I smiled back at Debbie.
"Did someone say you could speak scum?" Reed scolded
"Hey! If I wasn't your partner, you would die in there yuppie, you have no idea how to survive. Ass." I growled. The yuppie and Debbie stared, open mouthed, gaping at me.
I stood up and turned to one of the tall men in black, "take me to the damn field" and walked out the door.
Unfortunately, I had to write this on my iPad...so using bold, or italics wouldn't work :p meeeeeeh
