Zack's pov:

"Where'd she go?!!" I scream to myself in the morning light.

Elizabeth just bolted away from me. I have no idea why. I think it was because I tried to kiss her.

Am I really that ugly? She could've just said no, geez.

But Lizzie's not mean like that.

If she ran, she had a reason.

I've been searching for almost an hour now.

No sign of her.

I decide to head home. Maybe that's where she went.

I reach her house and knock on the door.

After a couple of seconds, her brother answers.

"Hey James. Is Liz home?"

"I don't know. I just got back from work. I haven't been upstairs yet."

I don't say a word. I just barge through James and sprint up to Lizzie's room.

I throw her blankets off her bed, check the closet, I tear it all apart.

But she's not in there.

I run through the entire house screaming her name. But she doesn't make a sound.

I get back to the kitchen and James grabs me by the arm.

"Where's my sister?!" He demands.

"I don't know!" I scream. And it's the truth. I have no idea where Lizzie ran off to.

"What do you mean you don't know? What happened?"

"We went to the cliffs to watch the sunrise together. And well the moment felt right so I leaned in to kiss her.. but then she ran away. I chased after her, but she was too fast. I lost her and I've been searching for the past hour but I can't find her." My voice trails off and I begin to cry. Not because Lizzie is missing, but because she went missing on my watch.

This is all my fault.

James senses this and gives me a hug. "Okay, okay. We'll find her, don't worry."

I force a smile and wipe away my tears. "So what do we do?" I question.

"Get in my car. We'll drive around and look for her. I know my sister. If she's lost, she'll stay put. But if she doesn't want to be found, she'll keep running." He pauses. "So let's go!" He yells, grabbing his keys and pulling me out the front door with him.

I hop in his car and he starts up the engine. I take out my phone and text my parents. I explain the situation and tell them I'll be home as soon as I can.

They say that they'll keep their eye out for Lizzie and call if anything happens.

This is so unreal.

The girl I can't get out of my head.. is missing.

Gone.

And I don't know if we will be able to find her.

Elizabeth's pov:

I don't know where I am.

It smells like sewage.

I don't like it here.

When I ditched Zack, I wasn't paying attention to where I was going. I just ran.

Which probably wasn't the best idea considering that I took a wrong turn and now I'm completely lost.

I have no idea how to get home, or even get back to my neighborhood.

There's a building in front of me. A tall, gross, most likely abandoned, building.

The only other things I can see nearby is a rusty old bench and a payphone.

I run to the phone and check my pockets.

Empty, great.

The one time, I leave the house without my cellphone or any money.

I sit down on the bench and stare at the building.

I don't know if I should go inside or not.

It looks kind of scary. Like a scene from a horror movie or something.

But then again, it's creepy out here too.

Nothing but some woods, a bench, a payphone and a building.

What is this place?

I suddenly become a little frightened and wish that I had never run away.

Why did I run again?

Oh yeah. Zack was gonna kiss me.

I had to run. I can't let him kiss me.

Kissing him means that there's something between us, and having something between us means that I'm going to get my heart shattered into a million tiny pieces again.

And after last time.. I don't think that I'd be strong enough to pull myself back together.

I lay down on the bench and close my eyes.

James taught me that if you're lost, you stay put.

So that's exactly what I'm going to do.

I fade into sleep and pray that help will come soon enough.
