Present time
It all started with a bright light - just like they warned. You always hear about this moment, but you never really know if it goes like they say it might. Of course, you can't know exactly what to expect, but somehow people know how it begins. It's after the light where it gets scary. You see yourself from when you were at your third birthday, blowing out your candles, to starting your first day at school, falling over the rough pavements while playing chase. You see the friends you made, the friends you lost. You hear the important conversations, the stupid, pointless, fun conversations.
You can see yourself looking through the mirror at your brand new uniform, ready to start your first day of high school.
It gets faster and faster, and I can feel myself falling, but I can still see my moments with my first boyfriend, I can still hear the words my mum said to me when he broke my heart at the age of 15.
I'm still falling, and I feel as if at any moment now, I will crash and never see or hear or feel again.
I can see myself turning 17. I hear my friends talking about a party. I see the text messages sent to the guy that has been flirting with me the past month. I can feel the liquor burning my throat - and I can now hear him telling me it's time to go; that he would take me home now.
I'm still falling, and I can feel myself start to slow. But just as I feel myself slow down, my brain fastens up. I see my family's faces - my younger brother Johnny, my mum Rachel, and my dad, David. I get a quick snapshot of each of my friends, too fast to comprehend who I'm seeing, the only people I recognise the most being my best friends, Hailee and Jude.
And then all of a sudden, I crash.

"Do you think she's awake yet?" I hear a voice say, a young girl by the sounds of it."I don't know, maybe," another voice says, an older voice, a male voice. Maybe it's her dad.
"How old do you think she is?" The same little girl asks, and I feel strange. If I'm in the hospital, shouldn't they know how old I am?
Before anyone can say anything else, I decide to open my eyes. They both stop talking, and I was right, there is a little girl on the left of me, who looks to be around 8 or 9 years old, and to the right is a man who looks to be in his late 30's or early 40's.
"Good morning, miss. How are you feeling?" The guy asks me, and I look at him strangely. Who is this guy? He's not even wearing a uniform.
I sit up and lean against the headboard of the timber bed I'm on, and reply. "I feel fine, but where am I?"
The little girl looks to her dad with a small smile on her face, and then looks back at me. "Well, that's easy."
Her dad looks at me and smiles.
"Welcome to Pinartha."

Soo I'm basically writing this book for a project, so it would mean heaps if I got lots of feedback because I really need it to help me with my project (which just so happens to be for school...)I've never really written a story like this before so I'm open to any ideas and I'd really appreciate some constructive criticism and some votes! I'll try to update as much as possible.
