He was her demise. The very bane of her existence. The reason she was on a lonely sidewalk in the middle of an abandoned street crying her heart out. Breathless and tattered. She could not find the strength to move, the tears just kept pouring. The thought of him brought her to her knees as she wept. Her thick onyx hair fell into her face, but it didn’t matter. She didn’t care about anything else.

Except him

His brown hair that barely touched his neck. The way she would run her fingers through it caused his body to slightly tremor making her stomach jump. His once pale skin that was gently kissed by the sun making him deliciously tan. Those light brown piercing eyes that always seemed to stare into her soul made her weak in the knees. The deep dimples that graced his defined cheeks constantly made him seem younger then he was. His salmon colored lips made her yearn for their feel. His bottom lip was slightly larger than his upper lip, which made them so kissable. She was addicted to his kisses. Two piercings on each side of his bottom lip. Snake bites. How she cherished those snake bites.

She loved him. Yearned for him. Craved him, his touch, his smell, his security all of him. Her delicate hands were scraped from the idle rocks on the sidewalk, which she knelt. Soon her sobs were gone which left her with the product of soft hiccups. She didn’t care that her favorite pair of blue jeans had a gaping hole in them. Her off the shoulder t-shirt was torn showing her undershirt. Her purse? Gone. Keys? Gone. Money? That was gone a long time ago.

As if on cue a single raindrop fell onto her nose. On any other occasion, she would be upset that the rain would mess up her freshly straightened hair. Not today. Today she was going to wallow in her self-pity on that sidewalk outside in the rain.

Blinding lights appeared farther down the road. That was the first car she has seen since she had been on the street. The black BMW came to an abrupt halt in front of her weak body.

“Marie!” A deep husky voice called out to her. Immediately Marie sat frozen. She heard him curse slightly before the driver’s side of the BMW opened. Marie didn’t need to look up to know exactly whom it was rushing to her aid. Strong arms enclosed her body; slight shivers plagued her with his touch. Marie felt her body being lifted in the bridal position, but she was so far gone in her hysteria that she didn’t care that he had come to her rescue once again.

“You’re freezing.” His deep voice caressed the side of her face.

“Jake” Marie called out oblivious to everything else in the world. Jake froze in front of his BMW, seeing Marie on the ground crying flipped his day upside down. His heart was beating like an African drum against his chest. Opening the back door to his car he carefully laid Marie’s soaking body down. Her eyes were glazed over. Hurrying to the driver’s seat Jake hopped in and drove off towards his home. He heard soft sobs from the backseat, looking through the rearview mirror Jack observed Marie with her face turned into the cushion for the backseat crying again. Right at that moment he wished he could take away the pain that she was feeling, even if he was the cause. He honestly wished he wasn’t the root of all her evil. He wished he could have resisted her, resisted the temptation. Something pulled him towards her, her deep chocolate skin that was so soft under his calloused hands. Her dark blue eyes that she wanted so desperately wanted to change to brown, but he felt that her eyes were what made her unique. He loved her uniqueness. He loved the way she fit to him, the way she fit him. Yes. All of this was his fault, if he just would have gotten a cup of coffee instead of tea they would have never met. His life wouldn’t have changed for the better and the worse all at the same time.

It was a beautiful disaster

Marie continued to cry in the backseat as Jake willed the car to twist and turn. How could she let this happen to her? Her love life seemed to be so perfect. She had this amazing guy who thought outside the box just as she had, but it turns out it was all just a lie.
