Callum's POV

Violet and I sit in silence as Mrs Lewis drives us to the hospital; her leg resting on the empty seat between us, and her back leaning on misty window. I feel awful for not preventing it, but at least now I have something against Summer. Something to prove she isn't better than Violet. But, judging by the look on her face, I doubt me and V will be together any longer.

" Lets talk." I say quietly, not wanting Mrs Lewis to overhear.

She doesn't look at me, but replies, " Theres nothing to talk about." Her voice is stern and powerful.

"Ok. But I want you to know that I don't care that you.. " I lower my voice down to a whisper, "...that you didn't snitch on Summer."

She sighs loudly, as if we've had this conversation a hundred times before. " To be honest Callum, I'm angry because if you had told me you were still with Summer, I would have walked away from you. But, you've hurt Summer and she's lashed out on me. So, after this, I doubt it will ever be the same."

I frown with disbelief, and Mrs Lewis pulls up into El Camino Hospital. The building is large, white and very busy. A dozen or so ambulances, each carrying sick patients of all ages, are lined up in the car park. About 200 cars are also in the car park, along with a few police cars. The reception building, about the size of a football pitch, is filled with bustling nurses, doctors and patients.

Summers POV

"I'm so sorry-" I cry, through a mouthful of saliva and froth. I can feel my lip is cut, and blood is trickling down my chin.

Max doesn't care. He continues to slap and punch me, he grabs my hair and twists it back with a great force, encouraging screams and even more tears.

My legs soon give way, and I land, face forward on the cold, hard granite floor. Panting for breath, I feel Max's football studs kicking my back.

"Please...Please STOP! PLEASE!" I beg, but he laughs and continues to attack me for what feels like hours. Soon though, the room begins to spin...my vision blacks out...my heart beats 100 times faster than usual...Max's mocking laugh begins to slur...

I faint.
